Hi all,

I have lusted after a particular diamond/ring on PS for YEARS. Short of it coming around for sale again, I've come to the conclusion I may have to find my own similar diamond. The thing is, im not so sure the stats of the diamond are easy to come by. It was an approximately 1.89ct oec, u-v in color with faint brown. Ive been searching for stats like that with no luck. Im coming across a lot of terminology using light brown or fancy light brown and im wondering how similar or dissimilar that would be to a u-v faint brown. I wonder if im possibly excluding a lot of diamonds that could fit whst I am looking for by only looking for oec's low in color with "faint brown." Its hard to know as I've only ever seen the dream diamond online as well (here). Any thoughts on the various wording to describe diamonds with some brown coloring and how that might impact the coloring? Thanks!

Browns can be kinda weird trying to buy the perfect to you stone.
I find the color grades to be rather meaningless with 2 diamonds of the same grade looking little like each other but one of a different color grade being a perfect match.
There also ones that they are very similar on paper but one is a dud and one rocks in person.
I would concentrate on working with a vendor by description and finding a good one than getting to hung up on the color grade.
For example brown that looks brown but not to dark and without a muddy yellow color under bright lighting.

Thank you, that is helpful. Im thinking too that if I have to purchase online, a good return policy might be a must too. Now I need to find some vendors. A few that I found don't source stones so that is a challenge as well.

I do but it is owned by a PSer and I didn't want to make anyone feel weird and wasn't sure what etiquette was here regarding that situation. Let me see if I can at least find a similar picture.

I’d reach out to Adam at Old World Diamonds! He has a big inventory of vintage stones @oldworlddiamonds

My etiquette calibration could be off, but I do not think anyone would feel "weird" about you posting a picture of their diamond and asking others for help in searching for something similar. Asking the owner if they would sell it to you could be considered a bit rude, but that is not what you are doing.

I second reaching out to Adam at Old World Diamonds, and possibly Jewels by Grace.

I realize this is larger than what you were looking at, but I wonder if the color/cut is similar to what you want?

to me if someone posts a picture here... it's understood someone may use for inspiration, or repost for help in creating what they want... as long as you are complimentary and not trashing someone's jewelry... I see absolutely no reason why you couldn't do it.. this site is for education and learning.. I would like to learn more about this faint brown stone :)

Thank you, this is a bit darker than what im looking for. Im looking for a light brown almost peachy kind of color. Now im trying to find the pic I had.

Im certain lighting, yes (diamond colors are hard!). Here's a pic of one. You can see the contrast with the lighter diamonds. 20220131_113211.jpg
