Hello All! New here and I wanted to get help from the experts, I recently bought a ring online, upon inspection the center stone has an incription that I couldn’t make anything out of, hence, I turned to this forum. Does anyone have any information on any grading or report that has DLCTF? I tried searching online but nothing comes up.. was I scammed?
Thank you for your input!

What documentation do you have?

It came with an appraisal, even that has no mention of the inscription. E56C2970-44E0-42A5-9D92-0CDEBEFF7352.jpeg

To be clear is this written on the grading report or inscribed on the stone itself?

The “appraisal” it came with cited an AGA cert # but that is NOT inscribed on the stone. The stone has something else — DLTCTF####

Go to a pawn shop and ask what they'd offer you. If it's cz they'd tell you. There's no way anyone here can tell you if it's a diamond or not, and whether it matches the appraisal.

Yes, thank you. I plan to do that too. But as stated in my original post, was curious to know if anyone has info on DLCTF.

I found this when I put in DLCTF---not sure if this means it's fake or a film over a CZ to make it appear like a diamond. But you should read it:

Some vendors have been putting a diamond-like carbon film over CZ for almost 20 years. They call it amorphous diamonds. Get that stone tested asap.

Thanks for all your input, really appreciate it.

Definitely get it checked by a jeweller or pawnbroker.
It may be that the diamond that was in the ring as per the AGA certificate has been replaced with a treated CZ which obviously is worth very little.

If you bought it online, print the page to PDF and do some screen grabs - one wouldn't want any potential 'evidence' to disappear it one was going to push for a refund based on misrepresentation or similar.

How much did you pay for it?

I think the long letter prefix in front of the number might be Robbins 8th & Walnut of Jewelers Row in Philadelphia. Not at all related to the firm in California. AGA was my old lab years ago and I somehow recall that letter series. We did many thousands of inscriptions.

They still operate in Delaware. You can easily locate them, Robbins Delaware Diamonds. Maybe they will help you if they have those old records. It is a firm one of the sons owns and no longer affiliated with the Philadelphia firm that is out of business.

My thoughts exactly. Because the appraisal has the AGA # but the item itself has the DLCTF inscription... I will definitely get it checked. Thank you!

Didn’t think of this, thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you so much for your input. The appraisal it came with was issued by the Brothers Jewelry in PA, the setting even has 14K BROS stamped in it. But what’s boggling me though was that the appraisal has the AGA # reference but the stone itself has DLCTF#### inscription, they don’t match. Nothing for me to tie one to the orher. My worry is that they might have replaced it

Did the vendor provide the AGA certification as per the appraisal?
If not did they indicate why not?
Can you access online the AGA certification if you have the report number?
If yes, the Certification should include details of any inscriptions on the diamonds girdle.
It may be an oversight of the person who prepared the appraisal not to “quote” the details from the certification.
In any regard it is easy to ID CZ from diamond but still you should confirm that the gemstone is a diamond AND of the carat weight, colour and clarity as indicated by the appraisal because it was on those assumptions you made the purchase.
screen shot / save any information / emails etc relating to the sale in case you need them to justify a return for full refund if the vendor is not co operative Ie. Credit card chargeback.

I can put you in touch with the previous past owner of AGA who will look up the stone to see if it is in the database. BROS, actually "Brothers", was a firm directly behind the old AGA location and they likely bought the diamond from a private individual and resold it to you or maybe they got the diamond from Robbins 8th & Walnut. which was just around the corner. It doesn't matter, so long as it is what it is supposed to be, I suppose.

You can use the link in my signature to get in touch with me. I will pass along the name and phone number of the fellow who last owned AGA and maybe he can help you. I asked his permission and he is happy to help if he can. I hope this does not appear to be a solicitation of doing any business which is against Pricescope rules. This is nothing but assisting someone without any business motivation. I do not want to put his phone number on the forum.
