Hello all. I am currently in talks with a family friend who also happens to be a jeweler to get my first diamond pieces. I've settled on getting a pair of studs and a single diamond necklace. We are going for what is described to me as pie cut diamonds. So they fit together smaller sized diamonds to make larger piece of diamond that looks
Similar to a solitaire. For my earrings I've liked the bigger size which will give a look similar to a 3 carat diamond. About 1/4 of an inch. For my necklace I'm liking a smaller size. My question is when I wear the two as a pair will a bigger diamond in my ears look very odd compared to a smaller diamond on my neck? I am also quite heavy so even though I like petite and dainty jewelry I'm worried it'll get lost on me. I'm also trying to figure out if I I want my diamond on the necklace to be fixed or to be able to move.y hesitation with it being able to move is that I find the charm on my necklaces always move around and go towards the back. But I do love the look that a sliding diamond gives more than a fixed diamond.

I personally like a larger pendant against smaller studs. I have 2 sets, one comprising of .35 studs & .40 pendant, and a bigger set of .50 studs & .75 pendant. I like that the broader width of the neck area looks balanced with a bigger pendant.

Both of my pendants slide on the chain & I wear them quite short on my neck - 16 & 17 inches respectively. I never find that they disappear around the back apart from when I get up in the morning - I sleep in whichever set I'm wearing.

I guess it's all down to personal preference? Sounds like a very exciting project for you! Please do come back with pictures when you've figured it all out & had them made!

I too prefer to have a bigger pendant than my earrings. However, I don't have anything that match, therefore, pick and mix for me only.

DK :))

My current set comprises of 1ct (each) studs, 1.4ish ct pendant & 2ct ring. I just find them to be perfect & desirable but if I were to get bigger studs down the road, say 1.6-1.7ct (each), I don’t think I would mind =).
I prefer my pendant to be sliding but my jeweler advised against  (because it’s an oval set in EW without a bail).

I find that my pendants that slide stay more centered on my neck than my pendant that has a fixed stone. The fixed stone tends to move up the side of my neck and I'm always having to adjust it so it sits where it should. So I would suggest the sliding pendant.

for me, I don't care one way or the other which stones are larger, ears, pendant, rings. I mix up all sizes.
