Hey there,

I would like to know more about diamond i bought which looking a bit wierd….
I noticed it has a what so called not so nice white circle in the middle.
Is it a fish eye? Is it something else?
From the gia report the cut is Ex altho from what i understand is a bit off.
Still, i was assuming it should be better for a ex cut…

Thanks.

That’s just how diamonds with these proportions look. I believe it’s the table reflecting on the pavilion mains. What are you hoping to learn by asking us about your diamond?

I would like to know few things.
1) is it considered bad? Because on gia cert it says ex cut so i assume it had to be not as white? To my untrained eye it reminds of an inclusion..
2) my gia report is from nov 23, i bought the ring last week, can something change in this while? Maybe there is a reason it wasnt sold till now?
Could it happen due to a chip at the culet or anything else?

Thank you.

Are you still within the return period? If it doesn’t suit your taste just return it and pick another one. GIA EX cut covers a pretty wide range of proportions and facet patterning. That’s why most on the forums advocate for photos/videos before purchase, and scrutinize proportions and optical symmetry.

I think a report from last year is pretty recent, and your photos match the loupe360 video.

Loupe360 video

The relatively large circle in the center is a reflection of the relatively large table. These 60/60 type cuts tend to lean more bright.

@papadia round cut diamonds will always have a round-ish circle in the center. How big it is depends on the cut of the diamond. Google/look up ideal cut diamonds and hearts and arrows cut and compare that with the look of your diamond. That may give you an idea of the center always looking like that (a round circle), but that it can be smaller. It comes down to personal preference and what you are looking for. As has been mentioned, there are many different flavours when it comes to diamonds! Your diamond may be cut to enhance white light return, which may be what you want.

Is this stone still returnable? Tripe X is too broad of a range and will include stones that are not all that well cut.

1) It is not an inclusion. It is due to the cut.
2) nov 23 is not that old...IMO
3)its not a chip at the culet. Round brilliants have this center area.

Whiteflash has a good write-up on table reflections here

Are you happy with this stone? Are you within the return window?

If you are not happy with the diamond AND you can return it then that is the answer. GIA has a BROAD range of excellent listed diamonds; I, personally, would not choose this diamond for a couple of reasons (with dimensions).

I asked what you hope to learn because if you cannot return the diamond these questions will not lead to satisfaction, only doubt.

I agree. I'm hesitant to say anything in case you're out of the return period
