Vintage Asscher Diamond Band = 1.25 ct under $10K. Spectacular cutter. High color no fluorescent.

OMC Solitaire = 3 ct under $15K. Unknown cutter but looks great on videos and the vendor said it’s a great cut. Low color with strong blue fluorescent.

If you can only get one of the above, which one would you go for? :roll

Thanks! :wavey:

OMC because I love a big solitaire more than anything.. but if the cutter of the asschers is Yoram, then oooh, it becomes a harder decision.
Pictures should be posted to aid in our decision making in any case :P2

Pictures are needed :P lol

Don't you already have a solitaire? I know more than one is not unusual on here ;) but would you wear both regularly or tend towards one over the other?

So now you know my dilemma.

No I don’t have a solitaire yet. It’s actually in the works now. Hubby and I thought to get a diamond band for our 10th anniversary but nobody produced Octavia or AVC that small anymore thus the idea of a solitaire was born. As so happened, I saw an OMC for sale as soon as I purchased an Octavia which is now in the works to become a solitaire. The Octavia is TDF so I’m blessed to find one available. Hubby said get a diamond band to make it a set (I never had any diamond band before). But then about a week later I saw the OMC solitaire available for sale (always wanted lower color with strong blue fluorescent). I asked hubby what to do and he said up to me. He just indulges me cause I’m pregnant 38 weeks with our first child and this has been a horrible pregnancy experience for me. I never thought being pregnant can feel so horrible. Even my two Obgyns feel sorry for me.

Ok, that really is a dilemma...

I think that if you've always wanted low colour with strong fluor, the OMC is an excellent contender - it looks nicely cut and has amazing performance in the videos!

What is the Returns policy at ParksFine? 30 days unconditional and they arrange pickup and insurance?

If so, I am thinking that you should get it - the Yoram stones will always be there in the future (as Yoram is never allowed to stop cutting or get old ;-) ) and you could save up for an eternity band in the future, whereas you might well not find another stone like this for a lonnnng time.

And if it arrives and you just don't 'feel' it or its character is not 100% to your liking in actual real lilfe, you could then return it, knowing you've scratched the itch and have made that decision from an informed position.

If you keep it, you would then have two solitaires, granted, but one would be a smaller, super-awesome stepcut 8-) and the other would be a vintage-y, large-faceted, broad-rainbow-pastel-flashes honker, so you could pick one depending on your mood or the occasion!

Is the band an eternity band? If so Id suggest ordering a cheap 20$ one in similar size on amazon and trying it out. I was thinking of an eternity band at one point and realized I HATE the feel of it between my fingers. And I also kept taking it on and off when applying lotion or doing anything that I thought would get the diamond on the underside dirty. I also worried constantly that I was damaging the underside diamonds when I accidentally grabbed door handles or things too hard cause I wasn't used to having a large eternity band... So yeah, as it turned out, I can manage small eternity style bands like my french cut, but larger ones just make me a neurotic mess lol. I ended up making a 5 stone which I love.

Personally I'd go with an awesome half eternity asscher band if I already had a solitaire, just so I could either have a set, or just wear the band if I"m trying for a more low key look.

I was going to vote for the band until you posted the link to the OMC. That is to die for and gets my vote!

It’s actually a 5-stone band. I dislike eternity band too cause of the problems you mentioned.

Well then I vote 5 stone. I have solitaires and a 5 stone and I love both styles. Sometimes I wear the 5 stone as a RHR while I wear my solitaire so I can do both at once! I don’t know that I’d wear two similarly style solitaires at once though.

Go with the OMC. It is stunning! I seriously watched that video like three times when Alex posted it.

If it were for me I would get the OCM but you've got an Octavia in the works (what size?) so I'm thinking a 5 stone band would be a good
either wedding band or RHR. You'll probably not want to wear the Octavia and OMC at the same time (I could be wrong) but a 5 stone on
and an Octavia would always go together (either on separate hands or possibly on same finger on left hand).

Tough decision! Congratulations on your upcoming baby...how very exciting!!! Oh plus, people tend to not wear their rings when they have
babies because they end up scratching the baby by accident. I think a very low set 5 stone would be a great option.

Two amazing choices!!

Here are some thoughts considering you have a baby on the way...
Step cuts are notorious for losing their performances quickly the moment they get dirty, so you may be cleaning the five-stone a ton, especially with all the 'dirty' that comes with a baby. On the other hand, a five stone will be easy to actually wear with a kiddo - no worries about scratching the baby or getting caught on things.

That said, the OMC is an incredible, not to be replicated find. You may get to enjoy its performance longer between cleanings, and you'll have something incredible to wear all the time as the baby grows older (and you don't have to worry as much about scratching her/him). BUT, you have an Octavia on the way and I don't know that I could choose which one to wear each day... unless you like variety and think you will enjoy switching them back and forth.

If it were me, I think I'd be swayed by the OMC. If your heart went pitter patter when you saw it, that's not something that happens with every piece that comes along. Once it's sold and gone, it's sold and gone and you can't get it back (unless you're @missy ).

Oh! I 100% vote for that OMC. I almost bought it. I was deciding between that stone and the one from him I ended up buying (which I'm wearing today). His diamonds are amazing...so sparkly and delicious. Mine is a ST color and faces up so much whiter than you would think. I was tempted by the one you are looking at because I love that it has the unique green fluorescence and the facet pattern is gorgeous.

To be honest, I really wanted both :D

Yes, we are very excited. Low set 5-stone would be a great option indeed when handling baby. The Octavia is 1.22 ct which is now in the works. I consider the OMC for its uniqueness (old mine cuts, low color with strong blue fluorescent). I don’t see that as often being offered at such price. No, I won’t wear 2 solitaire together unless maybe taking pictures for psers. I won’t wear any ring when handling baby.

These are more of an opportunity purchases. One is for the 10th anniversary and the other is a second push present. Both are solitaires. These two will be my first solitaires. My original e-ring is a 3-stone from CBI (0.71 ct in the center and 0.25 -0.27 ct on each side). My finger is too swollen to wear that now.

Here’s the stone together, the first time I saw them:

It took me weeks to inquire about the Hulk. Alex is very nice though and very responsive.

I’m glad you make a thread about the 3.34 cause I was attracted to both but I like the Hulk better. Green is much more my color.

Yes my heart is pitter patter when I saw it. It’s tough decision really. Why am I putting myself in this situation?

Tough choice. :P2 I think that I’d go with the band because it will likely be a very nice complement to your new Octavia. I’d save the purchase of a low color, strong fluorescence diamond for a future event.

Yes, I had requested that instagram pic to have them next to each other while I was deciding. ;)
I heart hulk! Plus, not to be too persuasive to go OMC, but since you've had an awful pregnancy you could always pass that stone on to your daughter/son to use as a wedding ring with a story about how it was a gift to you when you were suffering to bring them into the world. Throw in something about how unique the diamond is to match how unique they are. (ps. I justified my diamond as a future inheritance purchase so I'm projecting just a bit) :)

The OMC is really hard to pass up though. It’s a tough choice indeed.

I like the way you think. I’m going to do the same projecting as well :D

OMC

@joelly. I’ve changed my mind. Totally voting for the Hulk. From your posts, it’s clear that you love it.

Worst case is that you order it and return it. Come to think of it, maybe worst case is that
you buy it, decide you don’t want it after awhile and sell it to some lucky PSer. :lol-2:

It is really tough to put the 5-stone asscher on hold while I have an itch to scratch. So yeah if I don’t like I’ll just return it.
