Macys many times have on sale a pair of G/SI2 diamond studs with 1 carat each stud. Today, I looked at a pair original price is 13k, on sale 5k. It sparkles, but I think the color is H not G, not sure. I can see the feather on one pair, and inclusions.

5k for a pair of diaomond studs 2 carat tw is not bad considering original price is 13k; however, it doesn''t have a certificate, and there is no information on diameter, exact color/clarity, girdle, etc. at the time customer buys it. Store sends you the certificate with general information such as "Near colorless", but no diameter or girdle information. The stones are good size for super because it''s not set in basket prongs nor screw backs compare to another pair that is 15k, stones are much smaller in size, but better clarity.

What do people think about buying diamonds from Macys? Store has 6 months return policy, so it gives customers plenty of time to think about and change mind.

I am tempted because the pair looks nice, but I think if I were to sell back or trade up anywhere else, I''d have tough time without a EGL or GIA certfiicate and SI2 clarity. On other hand, if I keep it to wear, it looks nice, but I can see feather with my naked eyes if I look closely. Imagine if they are not on sale, price is 13k

What do you think?

No way would I buy their studs, have seen them in person, the CUT is bad, so is the clarity. Please look at www.whiteflash.com, that''s where I bought my studs, excellent cut, they are dazzlers.... Good luck, but skip Macy''s please!!!!

sounds like you might be interested in an upgrade down the road and I don''t think that Macy''s has any upgrade policy and selling them on your own would be difficult to recoup the money you spent. I agree with Kaleigh that you should check out Whiteflash or even GOG to see what they''ve got with a fantastic cut that would be upgradeable down the road. Good Luck!

lol...I was just @ Macy with my mother
she was looking at a 1/3 carat stud $900 (sale price $399)

we can also get another $120 off from buying gift cards form a good friend

so about $300....tomorrow is the last day for the sale and we can''t decide

Macys does have upgrade policy so long you spend $500 more which is fine.

I am with Kaleigh on this one! I''ve been disgusted many times talking to sales people at macy''s. Go with an online vendor! Just my two cents though.

personally i would take that 5k (a nice sum!) and spend it on killer smaller studs from GOG or whiteflash and upgrade to the size you are after over time.

If there is no certification on the studs then who is communicating to you that these are G-SI2? You say you can see the inclusions with your naked eye...I would be very careful about this purchase.Macys rents out their jewelry space to a jewelry company that sells lower quality gems that has been marked up so it can be marked down on these 50-70%sales...It should be a huge red flag that a store would put a $13,000 set of studs on sale for $5,000!There is no way that a retailer is going to sell a 1 carat SI2-G for $2,500 each! I have louped alot of what Macys has for sale in their cases and ive never seen a SI2-G color one carat diamond in their stock at the locations ive shopped at.

Went to their website and found that the certified 2 ct.twts were certified but didnt say what grade and these were on sale for around $9,800.The discription states also that the picture shown may have been enhanced(i saw no inclusions)but their non-certified 4 carat twt stud''s picture shows obvious black inclusions in the photo.

I would not spend that kind of $$ on diamonds from Macys. If you saw a pair of AGS0 2ctw studs, or other really well cut stones, your eyes would pop out of your head, trust me. These stones at Macy''s, unless they have cut and lab grading information (from a real lab, not Macy''s internal grading system) are not worth that kind of money. I''d save the pennies and get a really well cut pair, from a company that has a good upgrade policy.

Just wanted to agree that the $13,000 figure is really irrelevant. Those would never sell at that price. I paid $6000 for a pair of ideal cut, GIA certified, 1.5 ctw, H VS2 pair from WhiteFlash. I''d rather have my great quality ones any day!

pass !!! Macy's uses their own grading system.
