This is cool. Maybe related - there are recent discoveries involving deep continental dias and surprise regarding their carbon makeup - which was unexpectedly similar to the makeup of oceanic dias rather than common peridotitic dias.

Interesting, but not really relevant to us Glitterata because the earth is too cool for those diamonds to come up anymore.
Another factor is those very deep diamonds tend to be type II and they grow very fast when there is available carbon (which is thought to be in hot gasses and liquids).
