Hi all.

I am looking to purchase some diamond studs but wanted some advice on how much I should worry about the crown, pavilion angles etc for the diamonds

Thanks in advance.

The crown and pavilion angles need to be complimentary in order for the cut to be good so you obtain maximum sparkle! What size and price range are you interested in?

I agree. Just wasn't sure if these were as important when being set into earrings as people dont get as close to earrings compared to an engagement ring.

I am thinking of going for 0.5ct each. Not too sure about the price yet.

How about these preset earrings from Whiteflash?

Thanks KimN.

I am in the UK so would like to purchase from here. Also thinking of going for Lab diamonds .

I was just wondering if it is ok to go for preset not knowing the cut, angles etc

It gets really tricky when it comes to preset jewelry because 99.9% of the time, all we get is very basic and vague info such as "J/K, VS2/SI1, Excellent" or something along those lines with no other details. The problem I see with that is if one gets "lucky" and the diamonds happen to be the better specs in that range such as J VS2, we still don't know all the proportions, angles, and clarity characteristics.

My usual recommendation is to search out two individual diamonds and have the selling jeweler set them in earring settings.

I personally go more lenient for earrings and pendants, and I trust WF's preset diamonds more than other vendors'. But yes, in general, it's best to look for graded diamonds so you know the cut quality.

Many of the PS vendors ship to the UK. And if you want lab diamond recommendations, head on over to the LGD forum and start a thread, and we'll be happy to help you search.

Thank you Kim N, I will do that now

Thanks DejaWiz, this is definitely one of my worries that I wouldn't know enough about the diamonds.
