Diamonds from private sellers on internet

Hi yall - newbie here - bit by diamond bug REAL hard - not that lurking here had any more effect on me!

Just found a pair of diamond hoops from a local internet seller, claims he bought them but she doesn''t want them. He doesn''t know the grade or cut of diamonds but in the pic they look real sparkly. They''re 3+ct hoops and he''s asking 1500 for them - reasonable? He''s taking a 10% cut on what he paid - he emailed me the receipt. How shall I go about verifying them? He did sasy I could have them for a few days and if I wasn''t happy, he''d refund me my money - can I trust him or shoudl I like get that in writing? I''d really appreciate hearing from you pros!

You could get 10% off in a jewelry store. That''s not near enough of a discount to risk buying online IMO. I would keep looking.
