Did your FI get his hair styled or use any cosmetics on the big day?

We are less than a month away from the wedding day and FI is thinking about things that most of the girls worry about for a year in advance--skin/hair/body.
He has a good complextion but is worried about getting shiny. I suggested that I get one of my maids to apply some Bare Minerals on him that day and he seems relieved with the idea..no macho-man thing going on...he''s all for it.

Anyone care to share their FI''s big-day prep. Did he do his own hair, get a mani or pedi? Makeup of some sort?

Hehe. I asked my FI and he was just like "Uhhhh, NO". But I am going to make sure he has some of those oil blotting strips in his pocket. They blot out shine without any makeup. They rock.

Bare Minerals sounds like a great idea if your FI is up for it!

For our wedding, my husband never mentioned any "grooming" concerns so he didn''t do anything special... but I don''t think he would have been opposed to some cover-up for a zit or something simple like that, if it had been necessary

Gotta love that guy-timeline... it used to drive me crazy everytime my fiance would randomly call to say "Hey I was thinking maybe we should..." and I''d have to tell him, "Yes, thanks... I did that 6 months ago."

The Bare Minerals sounds like a great option, but another idea you could have him try is a Matteifier gel. It goes on clear and eliminates shine. There are several brands available, and is often sold as a "makeup primer". Either way, I'd do a test run on him to see what he's comfortable with and what won't rub off while hugging. So cool that he's cool with it! Must try this on mine!

As for hair... when I mentioned he get his hair styled the way the guy who cuts it does it, he said he would feel "weird" wearing his hair like that because he thinks it looks "messy". I said "but that's the style!" I like his hair best the evening he has it cut but he won't wear it like that any other time.

Oh, and I do think I'll talk him into a mani. He gets pedis regularly now, but he's only had one mani and I'm petitioning it by talking about "hand pictures".

Hmmm. wish I had thought to try that with DH.
Well I was just happy with him styling his hair for once with actual product. I was very surprised and happy that he went and got his hair cut, had the stylist show him how to do his hair, and brought the stuff with him to the wedding. Even the most laid back of men have a little vanity when it comes to their own wedding!

DH got a haircut a week before (so he didn''t look freshly shorn), and used his undereye concealer that he never leaves home without!

I do FI''s nails every couple of weeks - full on manicure with diamond hardener to finish. He is very much a man''s man - but has way more crap in the bathroom than I do!

He says he spent 3 months in California after university and was very influenced by a man he worked with who took him shopping at Clinique. This guy had a great lifestyle, a beautiful wife and impressed on FI that moisturiser and looking after yourself was not un-macho.

FI now goes to my hairdresser - a japanese guy who trained at Vidal Sassone and is great. I will probably go and supervise the pre-wedding haircut. I like a rather preppy look - short back and sides and longer on top and FI will get it cut short on top that makes it stick up funny. Then he uses loads of gel - which I loathe. God, I am such a contol freak.

I am most worried about the weather being too hot - July in the UK can be anything. FI doesn''t do too well in the heat so I''m hoping by 3.30pm it will have cooled down enough that he''ll cope with wearing a suit for the photos. I am thinking of saving up to have one custom-made in a ultra-lightweight wool. He''s also not a "suit shape", so it''s probably a good idea as he''ll get pleanty of wear out of it over the next 3-4 years as loads of my cousins and our friends are getting engaged or serious and lots of them have weddings where all the guests wear morning suit as well as the bridal party.

pandora, your entire post cracked me up, thanks!

So what you''re saying is that this guy in LA turned you guy into a metrosexual, eh? Heh. I cant even get my FI to use basic man moisturizer. I keep telling him it''s important and he says "yeah yeah yeah" but then when I ask him about using it he says he "forgets how to use it" so I''ve given up. On the big day, I think he''ll shower and that''ll be it!

hehe-cute stories. I think I am turning FI into a ''metrosexual'' as well. Funny cuz he''s a tradesman who works in nasty-dirty clothing all day...when coworkers see him out and about away from work they are shocked at how he "cleans-up".

I will try the products you guys have suggested. Thnx!

He''ll get a hair cut about a week before, but I think he''ll style his own hair, which is fine. I''m a bit concerned about his uber-sensitive skin, he usually has quite a few scratches when he shaves, especially on his throat... I might get my Navy officer brother (who has to shave everyday and has even more sensitive skin) give him a few tips. And I WISH he would stop biting his fingers and get a manicure for the wedding!!! His fingertips are horrid, but he doesn''t care...

I do!

My FI is getting ''wedding ready.'' He says this to me each night as I giggle at him. He wears white strips, he uses sunless tanning lotion, he''s moisturizing his hands, he will be getting a maniucure and pedicure, he just got his hair styled. I love it! He''s totally my bride.

Oh ya, white strips are on every night at my place as well
Also, feet covered in heavy-duty moisturizer and into socks before bed
