This has to be turned into the paper by this evening.

I moved across the state to the town my FI and his family live in.

I "assumed" that FI''s would pay for the announcement in this area, and my parents would pay for the announcement in my home town. Is that not logical? I mean, who exactly would my parents be announcing to in this area?

Well, just being nice, I sent the proofs to my parents so they could see it before I turn it into the paper in this town, and both of them called saying... "Aren''t we supposed to do the announcement."

Here''s the deal, announcements in this area are sooooooo expensive, and I with my parents paying for the wedding, I don''t even want to ask them (They''ll make a big deal about the price, and I know FMIL and FFIL really want to have one.) So, since FIL''s are announcing to their people and have already given me money for it, I put thier names at the beginning of the proof. "MR. and MRS. FI''s last name, are pleased to announce..."

Am I wrong? Should my parents names be first? I feel like FIL''s will be offended if we change it.

I think you are correct here. If your fiance''s parents are footing the bill in their area, and I think they should, their names can go first. And vice versa in the area you grew up in..... just my 2 cents tho!

Hi Mere-

I think you are correct in this case, we paid for all announcements, but we placed my parents names first for the announcement in their hometown and the one where I was baptized and grew up in and we placed his parents name first for the one where we live (which is also where FI''s parents live).

I didn''t look up any etiquette books, I just did what I thought was the most logical choice as my parents don''t know anyone where we live now!

Good Luck!

I agree with pp that how you are doing the two announcements seems the correct way.

Oh, I posted pictures of the shoes that I had the Vibram soles put on for you. I believe the post got pushed to the 2nd page. Let me know if you have any questions! :)

My FI''s parents payed and put their names on the annoucement in their hometown. Afterall - they are announcing the engagement to their friends and family - not mine!

There''s your answer. FIL''s are announcing to their people in their area so let them go ahead and do it with their names first

I agree with the others - I think you are correct here, and would stick with FIL''s names first

Thanks everyone! I ended up going with what I originally thought... I''m still kind of confused as to why my parents would want to "announce" our engagement in a different city than their own, but I think they just don''t want all of FIL''s friends to think that my FIL''s are paying for the wedding, if that makes sense.

If I put myself in their shoes I can understand since so much $$$ is being spent. Maybe I''m just niave, but I don''t think anyone think that.

LOL loriken!
Rachie- I hadn''t seen that yet! I''ve been out of touch all weekend, and wasn''t on here, I''m sorry that I missed it... off to find pics :)
