WARNING: this could be a long vent
Weird?!?!!?
I named this subject "distant situation" because it isnt directly related to me. Instead it is my FF''s Brother/future sister-in-law. My FF''s brother is getting married this weekend to my best friend/past roomate. Her and I wouldn''t survive in my FF''s family without each other!!! We will call her Ann for security sake (you never know who is lurking...) Both FF and I are standing up in the wedding for them.
I will give you all a little background info: I recently had trouble with my FF mom (FMI) treating me as an equal to something similar to a high school girlfriend. PRETTY rediculous after 3 years together, I have been in the family the longest, FF''s brother and Ann have been dating a year less then we have (not that this matters but it will help you all to understand the situation).
FMI started treating me this way when they got engaged. It was almost like well, Ann is officially apart of our family because she has a ring on...and you are JUST A GIRLFRIEND.
SERIOUSLY...they treated us both (ann and I) like we were already apart of the family but all of a sudden Ann has a ring and Im left over liver. It got so bad that FMI would put up pictures in the house with the ANN included...but not me?!?! Or at the little brothers grad party...FMI would introduce the entire table to a neighbor and skip past me. It truly was like I didnt matter. I asked the question to my FF "what if we decide to never get married...does that mean I will never be apart of the family because I dont have a ring??" STUPID! Ann and I are still best friends and she was on my side 100% the whole way through my situation.
So ANYWAY...this has since been solved because My FF talked to FMI (THANK GOD!). But now you all get a feeling for what type of lady FMI is!
The situation at hand: throughout the planning of the wedding, FF''s parents have gotten off REALLY easy financially! They havent paid for much, Ann''s family have paid for everything. Which is fine...BUT FMI still thinks its ok to add her 2 cents in ALL THE TIME, when she isnt footing the bill. Ann is getting PRETTY irritated. Also both FF''s parents have made it a habit to talk to friends and mention HOW MUCH they are spending on this wedding, and how busy they are, and how much planning it has taken. (THEY HAVENT DONE ANYTHING!!) The wedding is in Ann''s hometown, 3 hrs away from FMI-FFI...and Ann''s mom has DONE EVERYTHING! They have NO ROOM to complain!
On top of that, as you can see by the above story, FMI is VERY protective of her boys....and wants to always have HER LITTLE BOYS. It has been hard for her to have other women in their lives! So this week before the wedding Ann has gotten a call from FMI''s sister (FF''s aunt) that FMI is really breaking down and tearing up. And this aunt feels like at the wedding she is really going to have to make sure that FMI snaps out of it.
Ann and I are saying to ourselves..."WHAT THE HECK IS SHE SOOO UPSET ABOUT" seriously...this is a HAPPY event. NOT A SAD event. FF''s brother isnt DIEING...hes getting MARRIED!
A few times throughout the wedding planning both Ann and I have had to keep FMI in check, because sometimes she wants to believe this wedding is about HER and not the Bride and Groom.
So much so that we had to sensor what dress she was wearing (she picked out a dress that someone my age, 20''s, would wear to a sorority formal, strapless, sexy, revealing....BAD..NOT Age appropriate nor wedding appropriate) she just thinks that this event is about showing herself off, she is down to maybe 120 pounds. Its just disgusting how far she has taken it!
Anyway, the bride is really worried that she is just going to have ENOUGH of FMI and will say something she shouldnt. Or that FMI is going to make an absolute FOOL of herself.
Unfortunately Im very outspoken sometimes, and I have made a point to say several times..."well this is about Bride and Groom...they are the only people that matter on that day" because seriously she just does the most ASANINE THINGS! I FEAR FOR MY FUTURE WEDDING!!!!
OK SORRY, this is really long. I just really really needed to vent. I have to spend two days just her and I decorating for the rehearsal dinner and I just hope I can contain myself!
