Do I count as a LIW?
I''ve been married for 3 1/2 years now, but he never gave me an engagement ring. He''s very sweet and romantic, but he hates diamonds, and almost nobody we know wears an engagement ring. (Don''t pity me too much, though--my mom gave me my grandmother''s gorgeous art deco diamond engagement ring.) He recently told me that he regretted not having given me an engagement ring.
Well, over the weekend, we were at an antiques show and he spotted an 18th century ring that we both loved. It has a pair of lovebirds painted on a slip of ivory under crystal; it was originally a lover''s gift to his lady, more than 200 years ago. My husband bought it, but he wouldn''t let me have it. He hid it away somewhere, and I guess he''s planning to propose. (Though what''s he going to say? "Darling, did you marry me?")
As I''m sure you can all imagine, I''m going wild with anticipation.
By the way, we got married on the 7th anniversary of our first date, so I was a real LIW for a long, long time.
