Hey everyone! So I need your help. I've been trying on wedding dresses and can't decide if this Watters dress makes me look too cutesy? It is beautiful and I like it, but I don't want to look "cute". My sister said she thinks it's a "playful" dress and that's not really how I want to be portrayed on my wedding day. Cute and playful... that's not the look I'm going for!

LOL Please let me know what you think.....

Thanks!
Chelle

Sorry for the barrage of pictures....

I was really excited to be trying on wedding dresses... I look like such a DORK in this picture!!

I think the cuteness just comes from how happy you look!

Just looking at these pictures and seeing how excited you look made me smile and think awww how cute! But I think that''s just because of your obvious excitement, not because of the dress. The dress I think is gooooorgeous and bridal and elegant!

It''s your personality that''s cute!

Hmmm... I never thought of that! I was REALLY excited that day and look goofy in all my pictures. LOL Hopefully I will have more composure on my wedding day and not have that silly grin on my face.

Chellebelle - this is the Watters 6085B, right?

I tried this dress on and loved it too. I wasn''t so sure about the sash, etc. either. I also tried on the WAtters 5053B - you might want to look at this one, it''s similar, but a little more bridey (no sash, slightly different skirt. Here''s my thread with both of them if that helps:

OOPS - Sorry, here''s the link!

I had the same reaction - your smile and personality that shine on your face are "cute" but not "cutesy". I love the dress on you and do not think it is a "cute" look - but a very beautiful and elegant look without being too stuffy. And, I think this dress might be the one for you because you are absolutely BEAMING!!!

Yes that''s the one! 6085B...... I''ll try to attach a pic....
Anyways, I love that other Watters dress! It looks gorgeous on you! I''m more into the fuller skirt, which the one I tried on doesn''t really have. Do you mind if I ask you how much that particular dress is? I think the one I tried on was $1700? The one I really LOVE is the Justina McCaffrey Alexia II, but that one is $3100. Yikes!

Chellebelle - wow, I''m surprised that the salon you were at was selling that dress for $1700! I believe the 6085B''s list price is $1500. The store I tried the 6085B on at had the dress selling for $1610 (Priscilla of Boston - they have a slightly higher markup, but I felt like they made up for it in their awesomeservice, good rates on alterations, etc., so it''s kind of a wash.)

Priscilla of Boston was selling the 5053 for $1350. If you shop around, I think the list price is $1250. I was shocked that it was less expensive, because I thought it was the more formal dress, but it is a lighter weight silk shantung (which is also what gives it the light airy, but full look.) It''s worth trying the 5053 - I wasn''t so excited about a poofy skirt, but I ended up falling in love with it! I have a ton more pictures of the 5053 - let me know if you want me to e-mail them! They''re too big to post.

Well, you sure do look awful cute!

What look do you want to portray?

You look beautiful... and cute. It''s okay.... I''m "cute" too. I can''t tell how tall you are in the pics, but for me my shortness = cute, no matter what. I''ve made peace with it! SO, you look beautifully cute... embrace it!

Here''s a quote from Kristin Chenoweth (who, like me is 4''11") that I think is appropriate:

"I used to want to be tall, and then I thought, ''If I were tall, then people would say I was pretty and not cute.'' And then I realized that there are worse things than being called cute. They could say I was a b*tch, which would be terrible in my book. So I''ve decided that this height ain''t so bad."

Here''s a knot bio where someone has collected pictures of a whole bunch of Watters styles - there are a lot of pics and links to pics of the 5053B style with the full skirt and a couple of pictures of the 6085B that you tried on. This might be helpful too.

Hey, my dress is there too! 2039B!

LizzieC:
I tried on your dress as well and loved it! I thought it might be a little too informal for our location, unfortunately, but it was very pretty and comfy!

Not to hijack your thread, chellebelle - sorry!

It''s you that''s cute... the dress is very elegant in my opinion. I think with the right accessories and when your hair is done it will all come together and look stunning!! Congrats!

Girl,
look at you! You can''t help but be cute!!!!
But, lol, I think that cute is a good thing. The dress is lovely, elegant and very bridey!

Chellebelle - I think you look beautiful, not cutesy. Cute is a subjective term, and I don''t think it always has to do with being short/small - I''m only 5''2.5" and I rarely get called "cute." The most important thing is for you to be comfortable in the dress. I would shop around as much as you can, and try on as many different styles as you can, but if that calls out to you as "the one," then I would absolutely get it!

I think YOU are cute, but the dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you - cute is not at all how I would describe it!!! Gorgeous!!

I agree - you look cute and adorable because you''re so happy in it, but the dress itself is not cutesie at all! It looks fabulous on you, darling, simply fabulous!!!! Love it!

I like it a lot! I think the pickups are very gorgeous and add some flair to the dress. You look exuberant! You will be a beautiful bride.

I agree with others- I think that what makes it look "cute" in the pictures is you and your excitement. It is clear that you are just having a grand time. Once you get your hair up and accessories and all, I think you will find that cutesy does not describe that dress.

It''s a very glamourous elegant dress and you look positively euphoric in it!

Scintillating...

Thank you for the kind replies! You sure know how to make a girl feel good! hehe I don''t mind being called cute (you''re right, I could be called worse!

), I just want to be more beautiful and elegant for the wedding.

The dress is gorgeous... I love the silk. I think I''m going to try the other Watters dress with the fuller skirt. That one is really beautiful and I actually prefer dresses with the ballgown type of feel. I have two other dresses that I''m in love with, they are both Justina McCaffrey''s... *sigh* Why can''t this be easier??

Alexia II....

Paulina.... (this one is no longer going to be being carried at the bridal shop I went to, so it''s half off, and I fit into the only one left! It doesn''t have the full pickup skirt that I really love, but regardless, it is a beautiful dress)

That Paulina is gorgeous. Do you have any pictures of you in it?

I agree with the others. Cute, not cutesy. You''re GLOWING girl.

Ebree~

Ya know I don''t.

I really wish I did! The bridal shop I went to where I tried them on exclusively carries Justina McCaffrey and there are no other places in my area that carries her designs. And that shop wouldn''t let me take any pictures! Urgh. Has anyone else experienced this? I was so bummed because I loved so many of the dresses there. I would have never tried on the Paulina dress because I''m not drawn to A-Line dresses, but the gal pulled it for me since it was on sale and it was my size. My friend LOVED it on me, but I was worried about those straps that go off the shoulder since I hadn''t tried any dresses with straps. It ended up being really pretty though. Decisions decisions....

I think you look absolutely gorgeous, just like the others have said!

I would say you look radiant! What do you think? I would say- keep trying on, then wait, think about it, discuss with others, and then make a decision! With your beauty- anything will look stunning!

I love that Alexia you posted as well - as long as it lays right in real life...it could look so gorgeous or so frumpy depending on how the skirt lays!!

Hi Chelle. You are radiant in that dress. You look so happy in it and in a way that''s really cute. But the dress isn''t cutsey at all. I think it''s very elegant and you girlfriend are beautiful in it. Hope that made sense.

I think you are making the dress look cute because you are cute. That''s not a bad thing. On the wedding day, it will be different because your hair and makeup will be more done up and your happiness will shine through. I am sure everyone will think you are a beautiful not a "cute" bride.
