Do you drill your own pearls?

I have a vision of a necklace with Tahitian drop pearls drilled "by-the-neck" ... but it seems most sellers of loose pearls do no offer this custom drill option. Now I wonder if I should dare to look into getting suitable drill bits and drilling setup ... or if I should rather leave this to an expert. Do you have any experiences of drilling pearls in an, umm, semi-professional setup?

Some jewelers do it without a drill set up so just about anyone can with the right equipment. Check out Rio Grande or other places, maybe you will enjoy it. I leave it up to the professionals. Less chance of the pearl being ruined which can happen even in the best circumstances.
