Do you ever wear more than one colored stone at a time?

Is that clashing?

---

Had on the sapphire earrings yesterday and felt like wearing the ruby pendant also but figured that wouldn''t work.

Today, the sapphire earrings and the tanzanite bracelet, but I guess it''s o.k. as there is some body space betweeen ear and wrist that seperates them. (?) And they both have the blue/purple thing going on.

Do you mix colors on the same day or no?

Do you coordinate your colored stones with your clothes?

Thanks.

Do you ever wear more than one colored stone at a time? Yes.

Is that clashing? I don''t think so, but even if someone else did, I wouldn''t care.

Do you mix colors on the same day or no? I usually wear a trillion swiss blue topaz ring with a square tanzanite ring on my left middle finger, and then on my right middle finger I wear a round London Blue topaz and a red garnet oval.

Do you coordinate your colored stones with your clothes? No. I hardly coordinate my clothes unless I''m going out.

I also usually wear a bezel set round very light blue sapphire necklace that BF gave me for Christmas 2 years ago. And sometimes I''ll wear the oval peridot ring as well. The two topaz and peridot were a stacking set...

I think it''s OK if the different colored stones are part of what you''re trying to say with your outfit, and if the different jewelry pieces share a style. For me, the faux pas is to wear radically different jewelry styles together - say, a big hippie-type silver and semiprecious ring with a classic yellow gold and diamond ring. I also think the funkier the jewelry pieces, and your personal style, are, the easier it is to be relaxed and mix up your colors. Lots of more modern pieces combine multiple colored stones - multi-stone pendants and necklaces, stacker rings.

Different colored earrings and a ring? No problem with that. A friend of mine has (classic!) sapphire earrings that are her "signature piece" and she wears them with her other jewelry, mixing and matching that.

Yes and no...

I wear my e-ring no matter what else I''m wearing.

I wear pearl earrings with any pendant, but only pearl earrings with my pearls.

I wouldn''t wear pad sapphire earrings with an amethyst necklace for example, but I would with a different stone in the same colour range - ie a morganite

I''m not particularly into clothes unless I''m going out though. I wear a black poloneck and jeans or black trousers/skirt most of the time so pretty much anything goes with that.

F. Child - The mystery necklace is way cool. I wonder how old it is. Do you know anything about its history.

Thanks, Pandora. I agree with the same color scheme idea.

I don''t coordinate my jewellery to match my clothes but I don''t wear different coloured gemstones together. Wearing those of the same colour gives more of a impression for the gemstone to stand out rather than wearing many of different colours.

I generally don''t mix gemstones (except sometimes I''ll wear an iolite pendant with a tanzanite ring). I generally do wear a gemstone that matches my clothes for the day and sometimes I''ll want to wear a specific ring and pick out clothes that go with it.

I coordinate color families. I won''t wear a red gemstone with a green gemstone because I think it looks Christmasy. But, I often wear pink stones with purple, etc.

If I''m wearing a black dress, I will use one gemstone color for all of my jewelry.

And, I LOVE to mix jewelry styles. I wear vintage drop earrings with a chunky beaded necklace and a giant pink ring.

Depends on the day and mood...one day all diamond...the next turquiose and silver mixed with yellow gold and diamond or garnets or sapphires.I like the freedom to mix...or not.

I wear what makes me feel good that day. My philosophy is there are no rules in jewelry. I try to stay within the same color range, yellow with oranges, blues and purples, pearls with diamonds. But in the end, you are wearing the jewelry for you, so wear what you want to, and to heck what anyone else thinks. As I get older I care less about what others think and go more with what I want to do.

Well...no pretty much nothing. I actually had two threads a couple months ago about it: link

The only things I know about it are that it's supposedly costume jewelry, but made of sterling silver and no real idea what the blue stones are. So...no idea on any of it.

But now I know what it says on the back!!

Thanks for the links, F. Child.

It looks stunning on you. Great style.

Well, I guess technically I do because my ER is yellow so if I wear anything else it would be different. However, whatever I wear outside of my ER [usually to match my clothes] has to be the same, i.e.; blue sapphire ring, bracelet, pendant, earrings or pink sapphire ring, pendant, bracelet, earrings, etc. I''ve tried to wear different type stones together but always end up switching back before I leave the house. I do have some multi-stone sets that I have no problems wearing so I don''t know what the deal is with mixing the others. Also I have no problem mixing gold colors. I guess it''s just some kind of weird hangup.

I agree this is very tricky. I have various pearl earrings but no pearl ring so those never match. when I used to have both ring fingers available (which I don''t now with the e-ring) I would wear different color stones on each. what I don''t like is mixing different color golds unless one piece of jewelry already contains multi colors of gold. the problem I have now is that my e-ring is rose gold, but then all other jewelry I wear at one time is either yellow gold or white gold. I will also mix silver and white gold.

Because my engagement ring has blue sapphires, I dont think it would bother me to wear any other colors.. I did have a ruby ring I used to wear on my right hand, but you know... if someone else doesn''t like it, I just don''t care.. its not that you''re wearing it for someone else.. you wear it for you! :)

agreed!
