oh please..... don't be modest.

I don''t karaoke...I don''t want to hurt anyone''s eardrums!

DH, on the otherhand, LOVES to karaoke and sings classics (Mac the Knife) or newer "trendy" songs like "Copacabana." He''s quite good in fact!

Okay, I''m the same. . .don''t karaoke; have terrible singing voice.

My husband loves to sing, though, and drives me crazy, yet manages to keep our kids entertained so not all is lost. Mostly he listens to hard-core punk type bands (not offered in typical karaoke bars) so he''ll just sing at home VERY loudly over his blaring music.

This drives me nuts

. . .I get him back by playing my "suicide music," as he affectionally calls the CDs I play (new order, joy division, smiths). . .

I would rather peel off my skin than to expose myself to the riducule of me performing onstage! And, I''m sure others would react in a similar way if they had to hear me sing! The though of it terrifies me....Did I mention that I had to have my public speaking taped and played back for the class because I just couldn''t get up there and do it in front of them! I have issues...

HHMMM!!! There is a pattern here! DF, once again you are starting a thread without giving your response!!

All I have in my mind now is that picture of you in your white tux and red cumberbun and tie, singing "Feelings" at some karaoke bar! See what happens when you start these threads without giving us any clue about your response!

ok icelady,i do pretty good with....

smoke gets in your eyes.....the Platter's
always on my mind....... Willie Nelson
kiss me goodbye......Petula Clark

ps; i once try singing Elvis "jailhouse rock"

i empty the karaoke bar so quick, you would of thought somebody yell "FIRE".

and i think Elvis flip over in his grave at the same time.

oh,and the song "feelings" i can't do that one,too slow.

Yes, and I made a fool of myself on the Caribbean cruise we were on.

Sang "Wishing you were here again" from Phantom of the Opera, even hit the high "G", but didn''t get much applause because the audience didn''t know the song. Seemed that country/western was more popular.

Killing me Softly.....Roberta Flack

while hoping that I am not killing the audience with my rendition.

Also like to sing Hotel California, any Pat Benatar, and if I can find any Carole King song from Tapestry I consider it a 5 star night!

While I have enjoyed watching others sing karaoke, I will never do it myself. I have terrible stage fright!
I do like to sing in the shower or the car. Dancing Queen by ABBA is a favorite.

Anything, you name it I can sing it. I am a dazzling vocal entertainer. I have had roses thrown at me and standing ovations. I have also been compared to Christina Aguliera (sp?) and Whitney Houston....

In my dreams.

I sang "I feel like a woman" by Shania Twain- not too pretty. Alcohol was involved.....kind of scary actually.

Unlike 99% of the people who audition for the Idol shows, I know I can''t sing and won''t subject the public to my signing - whether it be on national TV or in a bar/club/lounge. I''m sure that many of the public will have a great laugh if I did sing in public but I would rather have people laugh ''with me'' and not ''at me''

and it's too late baby now,it's too late, though we really try make it...

love that song

30 seconds after they handed me the karaoke mike, the lounge would be empty.....

I am that bad at singing....

My husband is really good at Elvis songs. ALL SHOOK UP is his specialty. I do a fair job with Bette Midler songs. I can do WIND BENEATH MY WINGS and THE ROSE. I also love Barry Manilow''s CAN''T SMILE WITHOUT YOU. But ACHEY BREAKY HEART is the most fun!

I am the queen of Britney''s "Hit Me Baby One More Time"... it''s a pretty hilarious sight, believe me. Lately I''ve moved on to "It''s all Coming Back to Me Now" by Celine Dion. I''m still making working on communicating the precise amount of irony needed to communicate to that crowd that I''m not really taking myself seriously...

Strawdermanrgirl - Up for a Houston karoke party?

velouria, I would love to see that Celine number. That is one of the most fabulously melodramatic songs. Hope you throw in some good Dion-esque chest beating

(And do you do the Britney choreography? I've tried that song and it's HARD!!! Lower than you'd think!!)

I am kind of a recovering karaoke whore, so it's been a while....but in my heyday, my signature songs were:

*To be with you (Mr. Big)
*Wanted Dead or Alive (Bon Jovi)
*Baby Got Back (Sir Mix a Lot)
*Our Lips are Sealed (GoGos)

.....There were others, but all of those were done a few times, especially Mr. Big and Bon Jovi. In terms of duets, I have done Islands in the Stream, the Laverne and Shirley theme song, When I Fall in Love, Tell Him (Celine AND Barbra!!!).....

Lots of other one hit wonders that sounded good on paper (Britney, N*Sync) but not so much live. I wish I were cool enough (or had a high enough belt!) to pull off Pat Benatar!

The best was a friend of mine--a really cute menschy film geek from Brooklyn who was totally unassuming, but then would get up and do his 2 "sig songs" ("Ghostbusters" and Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give you Up") and ROCK the house!!!

And when big giggly groups of 6 or more girls with matching T&Co bracelets get up there to sing summer nights or girls just want to have fun into one microphone, I kind of want to gauge out my own eyes

fiancee just got a "leadsinger" microphone which holds like thousands of songs...

occasionally, i''ll doodle around on it...

"When You Say Nothing at All" - Ronan Keating

Heck, yeah, blueroses, I''m super cheesey! And let''s just say I do my own version of the Britney choreography...

sweet! I''d love to see that
