I thought I had decided on a dress until I saw this picture on a photographer's blog yesterday. I would at least like to try on this dress or one similar before making a decision. Any idea who the designer might be or is there something similar you could suggest? I didn't want a strapless dress as I tend to tug at them constantly, but this one looks so pretty I'd be willing to at least give it a shot.

Here are 3 different shots of it from the 2 photographer's websites.

BlueKeet,

I don''t know who makes the dress, but I''ll look. The dress looks like duchess silk, so I''d check out the high end designers that tend to go more ''simple'' (Romona Keveza, Ulla Maija, etc.) In the meantime, here''s something similar from Watters:

Watters 1058B

Thanks for your help EBree. Based on the bride's wedding location and other details I had a feeling her gown would be expensive. The dress I'll probably order is about $600 so I'd have to really love this one to ditch the first dress. For some reason I just have to find it though.

BlueKeet,

Here''s another from Watters that''s similar, and the website says it''s Duchess Silk:

Watters 7086B

It''s also pretty reasonably priced...House of Brides has it for $893, which means Pearl''s Place could have it for even less (but you''d need to call):

It looks very Judd Waddell or Ulla Maija to me. Both are very expensive though, so unless you hit a lucky sample sale, you''d probably be much better off with the $600 dress!

I''ll keep looking for you though!

I don''t know how you feel about taffeta, but this is similar and less than $300!

Good find, neatfreak!

Thanks for all of the suggestions. There are a couple other Group USA dresses that looked interesting as well.

FYI here is the dress I was planning on ordering, but I still have time to look around a bit so I will. Since I wanted straps, a v-neck and something fitted around the waist/hips, there were very few gowns to pick from at the shops. I didn't want the nightgown look either which limited my selection even more. This dress is taffeta which I actually like because it is lightweight and sort of matte. I didn't think I would like that puffy thing in the back, but the gathering on either side of it is very nice. I'm starting to think the mystery dress looks so good because of the person wearing it - after all the dress is strapless and straight across the top - not what I was looking for.

First choice:

This was the runner up (also taffeta), but it made me seem a bit thick in the middle:

Love the Jasmine dress! I like that it''s nice and simple in the front, with that element of surprise in the back. I actually like it more than the first you posted, to be honest.

I love both of those dresses bluekeet! I''m of the mind that anything besides strapless right now looks so unique, and the two you posted are nothing short of gorgeous! I can''t decide between the two of them either, lol.

Thanks for the research tips. I looked at all the dresses on the Ulla Maija site without success and have been looking through numerous other websites as well. It was odd, but a lot of the dresses did not appear to fit or flatter the models at all on the Ulla Maija site.

EBree & Monarch64, thanks for the vote of confidence with my original selections. I'll probably go with the Jasmine and stop the maddness of finding the mystery dress - I probably wouldn't feel comfortable in it anyhow. I do dig the Watters 7086B, EBree.

It sounds like you''re pretty set on the Jasmine dress (which looks way better on the knottie than the model!) but just in case, Watters has a BM dress that''s very similar to the 7086B Watters 8382. It comes in diamond white and is about $200. It''s poly tafetta instead of silk. Just in case!
