Do you own/have you used any of these products for cats?

1. StayAway or SSSCat spray (to keep cat off the kitchen counter)

What do you think of them? do they work? do you think they're humane?

2. Acacia Cat Tree by Square Cat Habitat

Does it look good/nice? How has it held up?

Thanks! :wavey:

I haven't used either one but I know of several savannah cat breeders/owners who love the SSSCat spray for keeping cats off counters and away from Christmas trees. There are ways a cat can defeat the SSS can though. Some learn to sneak up from behind and knock it over.

And the Acacia Cat Tree has held up for several breeders/owners who have very large rambunctious Savannah cats. I want to get one for my guys.

Yes - I really want to get this tree. They also have a taller one but I'll start with the smaller one, see how it holds up, see how it looks, and maybe one day get the other one.

Thanks so much for your feedback!

I'd LOVE something that kept the cat from the Christmas tree!!!!! I gave up having them -- even drenching them in Bitter Apple doesn't keep Joe Don out of them, and while he's there he throws ornaments onto the floor for the dog to chew up.

The spray only sprays in one direction, right? I don't see how it can work for a round tree, or is it just the noise that does the job?

Laurie from the research I did at first it's the spray...but if you buy the one with the beep plus spray (the StayAway) eventually (supposedly) the cats learn beep = spray so they learn to stay away with just that.

BUT - I've also read that it's hard to use it to get them to stay away from a whole ZONE (e.g., Christmas tree) - so what I would do for something like that might be to get 4 of the cans...and put them all around. Same with the kitchen counter...I imagine I'd need a few. If it works, it's worth the investment, just for a little more peace of mind!
