Does this sapphire look too much like a topaz?

I like the steely blue color of it. It reminds me very much of the color of a blue diamond.

However , do you think it would be mistaken for a topaz?

Also , I don''t know how to add two files to one post but , I also have a picture of a setting I was thinking about for it.

It''s a 1-2 carat oval.

Here's the setting. I'd do double diamond bullets down each side like this with the sapphire replacing the diamond in this setting.

By the way , to give credit , it's a Leon Mege setting.

No.

I don''t think it looks like a topaz at all. BUT what you''re seeing on your screen (I assume you''re buying on-line) may not be the same color as the stone is IRL, so it will likely look different on your hand than it does on your computer. Love the setting BTW!

I REALLY love that colour

That being said, however, I do think it could be mistaken for a topaz, because the colour is closer to topaz than most of the ''usual'' sapphires out there.

But, if you love the colour, who cares?

I don''t think that looks at all like a topaz - looks like pure steel blue! love it!

Some people may mistake it for a topaz, but who cares? I think it''s a beautiful color. Do you like it?

Where did you find it? I''m looking for something similar.

No, I don''t think so...and what''s more, the luxurious Leon Mege setting will have people thinking "sapphire" more than "topaz" anyway. That''s my thought!

Most peopel don''t know what a sapphire or a topaz is anyways, and when that lovely is set all people will see is "beautiful"!

It''s a lovely color sapphire and the color does resemble london blue topaz - so whatever people think it is - they will just know it is a lovely and sparkly stone. I think it will be stunning in the ring you''ve picked out.

I don''t think it looks like a topaz at all. If anything, I think it looks like a very beautiful aquamarine. It would make a fantastic ring in that Leon setting!

I love the color and would totally wear a stone like that.

The color is very pretty. I think it would look fantastic in your setting.

No way! That color is perfect if you ask me!

I agree with everyone else that is a beautiful stone!

why worry about it being the standard popular blue color? I promise all of your friends/ anonymous onlookers will still drool over it and evny you, and as an extra bonus, you will be unique for choosing a color of sapphire that not everyone else will have.

Does not look like a topaz to me....LOVE the color of that sapphire!

I think it''s magnificent! And, I have a hunch that away from the white background and the harsh lighting, odds are good that it will look more cornflower than London Blue ....

I don''t think it would be mistaken for a topaz. and it has a unique color. lovely. I like the setting as well.

To me it looks like a sapphire or a zircon. I have a lovely blue diamond that people think is a sapphire, a 4.8 carat (for real) alexandrite that people think is a mystic topaz (gasp!) and a blue tanzanite that people think is a sapphire.

So..... Buy what you love! And a sapphire being hard will give you years and years of enjoyment. It really looks to be a stunning stone, and the setting is excellent.
