Just having a quick vent because only LIWs will understand!

In the last 3 months, 4 of my coworkers have gotten engaged, with the two most recent happening 3 weeks ago and 1 week ago. My partner and I spend a *lot* of time at work, and socialize with our coworkers -- so it''s not as if they''re "just" coworkers, getting engaged, they''re actually friends.

Last night, while we were laying in bed reading, he put the book down (we''re currently reading Breaking Dawn together, so I was peering over his shoulder), and said, "I''m sorry it''s going to take a while for me to propose, it''s just that with everyone else jumping on the bandwagon, I''d really like to wait a while so our engagement isn''t lumped in with the rest of the crowd, IYKWIM. I had something nice planned, but am going to put it off for a bit, unless that really bothers you." And I *do* know what he means; it''s a very sweet sentiment to want our engagement to stand alone -- but JEEZ, I''d really like it to come around sometime soon!! I''ve been very patient, but now I just want to tear the house apart in search of the ring!!

Realistically, I think I''m out of coworkers/friends who are in the position to get engaged. So there''s not much of a chance of getting it pushed back again...I just have to be patient for a bit longer....

I feel weird saying yay to this, lol. But YAY!!!

At least you know it''s coming...and I think it''s sweet that he doesn''t want it lumped in with all the rest...he wants you to have your own little spotlight at work, and that''s really cute.

Just don''t go tearing up the house!!! It won''t be *that* much longer!!!

ginger, I can commiserate. Mr. H''s younger brother just proposed to his GF last month, so I have a feeling he (Mr. H)''s waiting for their ''buzz'' to wear off before he proposes. I, too, can see his point, but we''ve been together almost 9 years now, so I''m sick of the waiting period..

Yeah I know what you mean. I just found out one of my good friends is planning to get engaged in the same general time I am and I really didn''t want to have to share the limelight with her haha. Selfish, I know... oh well.

I''m just hoping our engagements naturally space themselves out.

The thought behind his action is sweet but I can understand how it would be frustrating. Hopefully it doesn''t take too long for their engagements to become old news so you guys can get on with the show!
