Downloading and uploading pics - file formats!

In PS2.0 - I notice we can't copy/paste pictures anymore? Since we must first download them to our harddrives and re-upload, could you allow .bmp files to be uploaded? Downloaded pics are saved to my PC as .bmp, then I have to convert them to .jpeg if I want to upload them back to the forum.

Hi Yssie,

.bmp files are not good for the web they slow the site up because they take a lot of space, but let me see what we can do to make it easier for you.

This may take some time.

Edited: Give the .bmp a try.

Hi Mods,

I just tried uploading a bmp, I'm getting this error message: The extension bmp is not allowed.

It worked!! The top is a jpeg, the bottom .bmp, I do see some picture quality deterioration - the .bmp is more washed out.

I think it will make re-posting pictures easier, but.. I can see why you wouldn't poor picture quality on a forum that specialises in gemstones, so perhaps I may be a pest and suggest that when files are downloaded, they be automatically set to download as .jpegs? Is this possible?
