Just curious what kind of dress is everyone hoping to wear on their wedding day. I definitely want lace, here are few options I'm looking at, at the moment.

Some sort of kick-a$$ cream/champagne/metalic, structured, knee length, vintage inspired cocktail dress and a pretty birde cage veil to make it more "bridal".

I love bird cage veils I don't know if I could pull it off, but it's so vintage and I love it. Your dress sounds very hot/sexy and fun.

Thanks, we'll probably get married in a bar/reastrant in the early eveing and do cocktails/finger foods so a gown isn't really appropriate but a cocktail dress is and I think the bird cage veil kind of goes with that.

I like the dresses you posted, I really like lace wedding dresses, very classy, romantic and elegant IMO

That sounds really nice. My FF and I are planning on having a very intimate backyard wedding (25 guest max). I love lace. I love vintage and classy things, Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite actresses and I love her style.

If only I had access to an attractive back yard...

I think this kind of gown is totally PERFECT for a garden/back yard summer/spring wedding

Thankfully my parents offered to let us have the wedding at their new house. I really do love the restaurant idea, before my parents offered I thought about having a restaurant wedding, such an intimate setting. We are planning a summer wedding. What about you and your SO.

paris29, I love that first gown you posted. Both are gorgeous though.

I also think I want something lace. I haven't tired any dresses on yet of course so I don't know what style I'll really want. For now, this is what I imagine wearing:

grlsbestfriend I agree...you sort of have to see what looks good on you. i really like that dress you posted, who is the designer!

paris i like the dresses you posted too...like the 1st one better...the 2nd one is a little too low in the back for me

grlsbestfriend Gorgeous dress. Is that a Jim Hjelm dress?

slg47- I agree about the lowness. I have a pretty large tattoo on my lower back (that I love) but I think that dress might be too low for the occasion.

ooh what's your tattoo of?

Its two red roses and and old fashion key (like the kind you see in movies like the Secret Garden). The top part of the key is in the shape of heart and the bottom key portion is a M, my FF's initial (I now also have his full name as well). On our first v-day together my ff got my 13 red roses and a card that I couldn't open till a week later. I soon realized the rose with the card attached to it was fake and the card said "I will love you till the last rose dies." So the roses are symbolic of that.

Agreed. That is very sweet. :D

Well I'm not a LIW anymore but I hope you guys might like to hear from someone like me to give a little advice? I wanted a lace, sorta vintage-y, and there was no way I was wearing strapless. Well after I got engaged I went wedding dress shopping and got nothing even close to what I thought I wanted. I tried on the dresses I was certain I wanted, they were pretty, but then i tried on one that was kinda funky, super modern and strapless. You know what happened? I cried, my mom cried, the sales lady cried and it was my dress! So know what you like but don't be afraid to try on something outside of the box of things you like!
Here is the dress I was certain I would get (or something close).

here is me in what I ended up buying:

I definitely want a fit and flare style or a slim A-line dress. This is currently my top contender it's by Sotterto and Midgely but it could all change by the time I actually get engaged.

Paris ~ I love both of them but have to agree that 2nd one is a bit low cut
go with number 1 - it is elegant & feminine

this was my wedding dress --> not me modelling it

Not sure if I will ever remarry. I do like dresses like these two though.....

This is my dream dress. It's in red, but I would want it in White!

Yep it's a Jim Hjelm! Good eye! I love his style, there are only about a million of his dresses that I would consider wearing lol.

Stepcutgirl, your dress is beautiful! I love all the layers. It's soft, feminine, romantic, but very cool and unique!

Nice dresses ladies! I have no idea yet what I want, though I'd prefer form fitting dress over anything poofy.

I love mermaid dresses but I'm so short I doubt I'll ever be able to pull them off. I do love Jim Hjelm and Lazaro dresses, however!

Me too...any idea as to the style number/designer?

I also love the top one!

I'm the same way - I love mermaid, but I think I may be too short to pull it off. Maybe we need to have a short gals' dress thread. I should go out and try some on, but I don't really have anyone to go with here! :(sad

I imagine myself in lace - perhaps something like the Jim Hjelm that Grlsbstfrnd posted. I really want a sort of vintage look and a bird cage veil, but who knows.

I did a quick search after I saw it here - Jim Hjelm; style jh8801

Edit - don't leave short girls, I suck at finding dresses I like so I need some of your inspiration!

Does anyone think it would be weird to wear lace on the beach? I always thought so, but that dress is beyond anything else I've seen.

Nope. I plan on (someday) having a beach/tropical/cruise wedding (something along those lines) and I think this dress would be perfect, mainly because it's so light.

I actually think that lace would be perfect on the beach. I mean, I guess it would depend on how fancy the dress is, but I think a lace dress that doesn't have a ton of beading would look elegant and lovely on the beach!

Thanks for the input, I don't know why I had previously dismissed lace. Now if only I could find that beauty for, ohhh, half the price - I'd be in heaven!
