Hi all! One of my close friends was recently engaged and has asked me to be the MoH. This is kindof a complicated story, but she has a wedding dress that she purchased during a previous relationship and her mom wants her to wear that dress since it has already been purchased/was never worn. It is NOT my friend''s dream dress - more fit the specs that her mom was looking for (her mom is VERY old fashioned - believes that strapless is not ok, and is extremely petite so seems to not understand my friend''s average but curvy figure, thus believes it''s best to hide these attributes). Anyway, my friend is visiting this weekend, and since I live in a larger area, I asked if she wants to do some dress shopping - just to see what''s out there, since she''d been talking about wanting a different dress. She said that would be great, and I made two appointments for her on Sat - one at a more typical bridal salon (carries most of the popular brands) and David''s, since my friend has said that if she does get a new dress, she''d want to find a really good deal on it.
So, I''m looking for two things - 1) Dress dust! I remember how stressed I felt trying on dresses, and I really want my friend to have fun more than anything else. 2) Any tips for shopping sans the Mom? I''ve heard horror stories about how SAs can mistreat brides b/c they think the bride isn''t "serious" without the mom there. My friend is close to her mother, but due to the situation, mom isn''t really interested in looking at other dresses.
