Hi ladies,
I need a little help. I need to find a dress to wear to a daytime wedding reception. The ceremony is separate so this is only a reception at a restaurant. It''s not extra casual, i.e. no jeans but not black-tie either.
What type of dress do you think is best? What colors and what colors to avoid? Is black ok if there''s a colorful pattern on it? Knee-length ok? Also, feel free to discuss matching shoes too. I do have this pair of gold sandals (heels) or a pair of black open-toe heels that I could wear, possibly others too.
HELP please and pictures are always fantastic.

Thank you!

Do you like wrap dresses? If I remember correctly you have a nice curvy figure, and a pretty jersey wrap dress in a great pattern would be perfect for a daytime restaurant reception. Gold sandals will be easy to match, and maybe you can find a fun necklace or bracelet to complete your accessories.

I think just below or just above the knee lengths are appropriate. Definitely nothing too long. Black and white patterns, yes, absolutely. Where do you like to shop? If you tell us some websites you usually buy from (or B&M stores with websites) it will be really easy to make suggestions that are more likely to appeal to you.

I just responded to you on my who''s who!

Monarch, thanks for your help! Actually, I don't shop much, virtually never shop online b/c I'm terrible at returning. I would though, I just haven't done it much so far. I also find myself picky so I'm worried about not seeing it on me before I buy. Plus, since I lost some weight somewhat recently, I barely have anything that fits and not 100% sure what works and what doesn't. As far as regular stores go, I like Macy's or Lord & Taylor, although I haven't been to L&T in ages. I would also try the outlets to get more stores at once.
The black dress I have has spaghetti straps and is black background with large, colorful flowers. Part of me wants something a little different though, maybe a color since it'll be summer (it's for May) and something different than my normal style.
As for wrap dresses, I don't know but I'm always open to trying something.

Ok...prepare for a barrage of pics.

Love this, in alabaster, for you from macy''s online. I think the color would complement what i remember about your skin tone from seeing GTG pics here.

an example of a really cute wrap dress from Macy''s...minus the boots, add your gold heels...I think it''s really cute, great colors for you, and a nice spring-y pattern.

One more from macys.com...really pretty black and white organza dress with great detail at the neckline, I kind of love this one.

from Nordstrom...I am really liking a soft pink color for you!

another Nordstrom pick but not sure about daytime...

Really love this one from Nordies, esp in black and white.

That's it for now...tell me what you like/dislike and I can take that into consideration in searching. I aim to make you the belle of the ball, my dear!

ETA: congrats on your recent weight loss, whether you were trying or not...I know you used to mention wanting to lose a couple pounds, so good job!

Ok, I can''t stop looking. Here''s another from Nordstrom, a sweet little black number:

And I absolutely love this red/white/black number, also from Nordstrom:

one more from Nordstrom, I can''t believe this only comes in pink...but it''s the perfect silhouette for you, imo...and the back is adorable although you will have to go to the website to see it, hee hee:

I *LOVE* the very first dress.
That''s my fave too....but I have a feeling Dixie might come back and say there''s not enough bust coverage.

Wow Monarch, you are great!
I do like the first one a lot but you are right, it's a bit too revealing for me.. good guess!
#2, style is fine but pattern isn't quite me.
#3, I like a lot.
#4, I don't think that pale pink works too well for me but I'd try it on.
#5, I like this one. Why no good for daytime?
#6, I like the style but not sure the pattern. I'd try this one on too.
#7 is ok but I think I want some color in there.
#8, sorry, not a big fan of this one. Just a bit too much for me.
#9, I think I like it.. ok, ok, I'll go to the website. I couldn't find it and browsed through 10 pages of dresses. Sheesh do they have a lot of dresses!

ETA: I found #9! Not sure about this one but in the will-try-on pile!

Hope that is helpful. Thanks so much!! More ideas please

Thanks Monarch, I forgot to respond to this earlier. I was definitely trying and still am for about 10 more lbs + a ton of toning. I wish I could keep up w/WWT but there''s just too many posts for me to sift through.
Ah well, back to dress shopping!

Ok, this is a test to see if this pic uploads correctly but also, I like this dress, just not sure of the color.
What do you think?

Here''s another but I''m not quite sure about it. It does come in a variety of colors:

I really like this but it's too expensive and I think I don't want all black (just posting it b/c I think it's pretty :)

I guess the pic might help...

This is really pretty but a bit higher than I''d like to spend at $308:

Is this too much for daytime? Not sure if I could pull it off but I like it on the model (although very expensive):

I''m glad to see you''re open to strapless--I love the last one you posted, and I don''t think it''s too over the top at all. In fact, I like that it has lots of cool details, it''s a really fun look. I like the pale pink ruffled one (I think thats Ralph Lauren, I remember seeing that one last night while I was browsing), I wasn''t sure about the big ruffles on the bust though.

Do you like Anthropologie? There''s a store in Oakbrook, they have tons of really cute dresses. Check out their site when you get a chance, the prices are not outrageous either.

I think this one is gorgeous!

first off i''m extremely casual.....but most of the dresses seem a bit too dressy for the even being described. i like the first wrap dress with or without the boots.

I also think that some of the dresses are a little too dressy for a daytime wedding. Although I do see people getting very dressed up for weddings regardless of time of day so it''s whatever you feel comfortable with. I love the last 3 you posted. Especially the 2nd to last dress (black and white $308). That''s my favorite. Very cute! I also like the one with the boots. You could get a lot of wear out of that one by dressing it up or down as needed. Very versatile. Looks like you have some great options!

I cannot begin to tell you how great anthropologie dresses are. They are always the softest, most sensual fabrics and fit against the body in an amazing way. Most companies don''t do bias cuts because it is more expensive but it is more flattering and a lot of their dresses have it.
