Hi Everyone, it''s been ages I know...but we finally set a date 12/28/07! His brother is in the military and will be in Iraq until then and we want him to be in the wedding so we had to plan for the future. We are moving to Phoenix and I do know one good bridal shop there, but I wanted to start looking around in the city before we move. I would obviously love a Reem Arca or a Monique Lluhlier (I have no clue how to spell those), but my budget is about $2000 for my dress so I think you see where I''m going with this... Any ideas on where to go? I think I will go to Kleinfeld''s just for fun, I love that Badley Mishka dress that is kind of like a bra on the outside. I wouldn''t wear that to my wedding, I don''t think the church would allow it, but regardless, I digress, any ideas anyone?

I''ve checked out a lot of dresses online, I''m an Internet junkie, but I think I need to try some on to figure out what I''m really looking for...

Hehe, that reminds me of our "H-Town Girls and their Bling!" pic!! FUN!!!!

I saw those pics, they were so fun! We took them at my fiance''s sister-in-laws bachelorette party, she was really wasted and wanted to wear all the rings all night

Dazedland, in NYC I would recommend Saks--they have a really great selection and excellent service. Also, there is a place called Bridal Atelier by Mark Ingram which I''ve heard good things about. There''s also the Wedding Atelier on lower Fifth Avenue. You need to make appointments at these places though. If you don''t want something super-duper bridal, the Nicole Miller store in Soho has some really nice gowns and the prices are good--you might want to look at the website first and see if anything catches your eye. I''ll try to think of some more places but that should give you a start!

Isn''t RK Bridal there? They have great prices!

Yes- definitely check out RK Bridal- and hit as many sample sales as you can- sometimes you can find a dress for half price there! I have some friends that got top of the line designer gowns really reasonably at sample sales....

dazedland-
I live in NYC & tried on bunches of dresses at several shops here in NYC. I actually bought 2 dress @ sample sales. I am naughty, but the one was a total bargain and now I have to try & sell it, as I am not going to wear it. If you are planning a trip to NYC in the future sign up for sample sale notices on topbutton.com- it''s completely worth it, sometimes the sales go on for a week or stretch over a weekend.
Anyway if want the Kleinfeld''s experience- do it- you have to make an appt & give your credit card number because they charge you if you are a no show, but I didn''t feel too much pressure to buy and there is no obligation attached to the appt. I didn''t buy a dress there, but I tried on a lot and it was good because I learned what I liked, and tried on a wide variety of styles- it''s an experience- 2 of my bridal party joined me, one friend who got married in the fall & was just so excited to be there because of everything she had read/heard about it. If you like shopping and like wedding stuff it''s definitely "fun." With 2 of the dresses I tried on they took me to the main area and had me "model" them with veils- I got goosebumps- it was very cool. That being said, I wasn''t about to spend 4K on a wedding dress and that''s what the Monique that I tried on there would have cost, they will ship it out of state to save you on the sales tax, and I could have gotten another $400 off, because they offer corp. discounts to certain companies. I know that they have dresses there that cost less as well.
If you make an appt at Kleinfeld, get it for as early as you can- then make an appt at the Bridal Garden, it''s only a block from Kleinfeld and it is a non-profit charity consignment/sample shop. It is also by appt. only- the dresses there are either donated by brides (all have been cleaned) or samples donated by shops & designers. it''s not a big place, they have 3 dressing rooms and it''s self-service- they let you try on 10 dresses at a time and you are free to look through their entire inventory. I tried on a gorgeous Vera Wang that was in perfect condition and fit me close to perfectly, but I decided it wasn''t my style. @ the bridal garden if you see something you like they may drop the price to encourage you to buy it- I think that they are open to negotiation- I believe that the Vera dress I tried on retailed for 6K and I could have gotten it for 2,200.
And if you buy there all of the proceeds go to a charity.
Anyway- if you have anymore questions about NYC dress shopping - PM me- I ended up with a Christos dress and an Amsale dress. Good luck!
