I''ve been shopping three times so far and have found two dresses that I like. The problem is that I like different parts of both dresses, and can''t figure out if I should choose one of the two, or keep looking for something that incorporates the parts I love about both dresses. Suggestions for other dresses are welcome!

Dress 1: I love the chiffon fabric and the sweetheart neckline. I originally had visions of a romantic lace dress, but I hated them on me, and I feel like this still has that romantic feel. I''m not sure it''s as flattering as it could be around the waist though.

Dress 2: I love the ruching on this one - I feel like it makes my waist look so tiny! I don''t like the pickups in the skirt and the slight bubble hem though. I also worry about the neckline - the sample photographed very asymmetrical, even though it didn''t seem that way in person, and I don''t know if it was a sample issue or an issue with the dress in general that would totally bug me looking back at pictures.

Gonna try the first dress again bigger.

Tough one. I love the sweetheart neckline and fabric of the first one, but think the shape (more fitted) of number 2 looks better on you. It really shows off how slim you are, but still with curves!

Number 2 is stunning!

Number 1 looks lovely on, but doesn''t do your gorgeous figure justice!

I think I like number 1 the best. I love the sweetheart neckline on it and I think it could probably be taken in to for you a little better on the hips.

I prefer #1. I agree it doesn''t cinch you in quite as much as #2, but your figure looks more proportionate to me. I actually love your figure in that dress, you''re lovely.

I think if you want more of that holding-in effect, you could try taking the dress in a little more.

Another vote for #1 (the chiffon)

I''m biased towards that fabric anyway, but I really love how it''s flowy, and ditto to what everyone who likes it said about the sweetheart neckline.

Unrelated, but I''ll throw it in anyway: OMG, could you BE any cuter? You look like a little porcelain doll in these dresses! You''re definitely one of those women for whom romantic white gowns were MADE! I mean, pre-Raphaelite red curls and ALL, man! You should model wedding dresses, those designers would rack up sales like crazy when brides see you in the gowns!!!

Number 1 looks beautiful on you! Love the ''flowiness'' of it.

Having seen you in gowns in person I couldn''t agree with Med more!

After taking a second look at your photos I do think that either gown could be modified to be what you want. I think the second gown could have the bubble hem removed and the pick ups let out. I think the first gown could be tailored to fit you tighter in the waist and hips to accentuate those curves you have. I bet you could even have a corset back put in so you can really cinch it in on the parts you love without suffocating yourself at the bust.

I suppose if you were stop your shopping here it would come down to which fabric you love more and which neckline you love more as they are certainly quite different.

I''m liking number 1 too. I love the neckline and the romantic feel of the dress. What about a silk ribon tied
at your waist to draw attention to your tiny waist? May mess up the lines of the dress but you could try it
to see how it looks/feels.

I completely agree with your opinions- I like the flow and neckline of the first better, and I like the ruching of the second (but I''m not really a fan of the pickups).

I think you should find a dress that combines what you love about the two.

#1 is GORGEOUS on you, and while i agree you look thinner in the second dress, I actually much prefer your figure in the first dress. You look curvy and beautiful

I love the romantic lines of the 1st dress, and it also can be altered to continue the flow of the dress. The second dress is very flattering on you, but has a different feel than what you described that you had wanted. Ultimately think about what you are more drawn to... and make your decision.

Thank you so much for the compliment! I''m blushing!

Thanks everyone so far for the opinions, keep them coming!

I adore number 1 on you.

steph,

Since you said suggestions for other dresses were welcome, this is the first dress I thought of that beautifully combines the asymm. ruching with the flowing skirt. Pronovias Haiti:

I like the chiffon one more. The assymetrical part of teh runching in the 2nd one that you don''t care for is part of what makes you look so tiny (not that you are not....ugh...you know what I mean) if its not assymetrical runching can sometimes make you look bigger because it just adds horizontal lines and extra fabric to places you don''t want, the swoop of the assymetry helps create that tiny waist/hourglass look.
so...all that is to say, if you don''t like the assymetry runching, then a runched gown will probably not be what you are looking for.

And i agree with previous posters that with you curls and soft look a romantic dress will look stuning.

#2 for sure!!!!!!
I don''t usually like picks either, I have never seen them look good on anyone.....but WOW, it''s looks GREAT on you just the way it is. Seriously, your figure is perfect in dress #2, not so fab in dress 1 (to be brutally honest). I would just have the neck line changed if it bothers you that much, which your seamstress can do for you during alterations anyways. If the dresss needs to be shortened, then they can fix the hem too. I don''t know that I''d let the pick-ups go though, I think they make your the figure pop on you, in a fantasbulous way of course.

Gotta say I LOVE the second one, pick ups and all. They both look great on you though.

I think you're one of those people that would look great in anything. Keep shopping and you may find something that doesn't need any changing.

While the first one is gorgeous! I am going to go against the popular vote and say I like #2 the most! The neckline can be hemmed, and I usually don''t like those kind of skirts, but it is absolutely gorgeous on you!

Hands down for me #1. Its stunning on you.

DITTO. It''s funny...I think #1 (chiffon) makes your waist look tiny and it gives you an hourglass. I love the flowiness and I will almost always pick a sweetheart neckline over a straight across one. And I couldn''t agree with Med more...you are beautiful!

I know several Steph''s and for some reason whenever I see your posts I picture a redhead...it''s like I''m psychic!

Another vote for #1! It gives you all the right curves, in all the right places. I think #2 elongates your torso to much, although trying on a larger size and pinning it back might also do that...

So it seems that I''m going to go against the popular vote...although I think #1 is very pretty and you wear it wonderfully, I just love the way #2 looks on you. I think shows more of an hour glass shape, and your right it does make your waist look super tiny (though you don''t need something that "makes" your waist look small b/c it already is!)

I think you can definitely have some of the pickups dropped if you don''t like them, and the neckline can be altered to a sweetheart which based on dress 1 is very flattering on you. However, whichever dress you pick you''ll look great in either one.

So here''s a dress that came to mind that you might like....
I think you could let out the pickups that are on the right hand side of the picture to make it a little more even all the way around...but I think this dress is stunning and with your body you could pull it off!

Just a suggestion

I agree. I love the dress Ebree posted too-it''s gorgeous. Might be worth a try.

Number 1 (the chiffon) is just gorgeous on you. You could ask for a little less skirting to make it more streamlined if you want, but honestly it looks fabulous on you. Does wonders for your figure.

But that said, if you not 100% sure, then go and try a heap more dresses on, and see if you are happy to go with that one. After trying another gazillion on, you will know if that is the one.

I tried lots of dresses on before I found my dress. I was 99% but I still wanted to go to other places and try other stuff on to make sure. Over the course of the day shopping with my Mum and sister, every dress I tried on just didn''t measure up to ''my one'' and made me more certain and fall in love with the one even more. You will know!

Thank you so much everyone for your opinions and compliments. I think I am going to take honey''s advice that I bolded above - I really like both dresses looking at the pictures, and I loved them both in the store, but I don''t love them right now. I''m going to work off of the idea that I like chiffon and sweetheart neckline and see what else is out there!

Thanks for the suggestions of specific dresses Ebree and ams, I will be looking for those in my next trip out!

Stephbolt,

I''d keep looking. I like the lower waist one the 2nd. Try looking for dresses that have that look. It makes your figure really stand out in a "Check ME out!" kinda way.
