I was thinking about creative ways to do invitations today (instead of thinking about, uhm, my work). At first I was all "hey, why not ask people to RSVP via e-mail? save time, postage, etc.?" And then I thought "I am so missing something here..."

OK, ladies, why might this be at terrible plan? Or maybe it''s NOT a terrible plan?

My other thought was to get a book of funky postcards... lots of different ones and use those as RSVP''s to make it more fun. But it might be tough to get stuff printed on them. Any thoughts on this idea?

My only thought would be if you''re going to ask for eRSVPS, might want to build a website (and there are free ones, I have mine through weddingchannel.com) that will allow your guests to RSVP through the website instead of just sending you a random email. You''d also have to be really clear, clear as in like you''re talking to a 5 year old, about RSVP instructions- you''d be surprised at how many adults can''t follow simple instructions..=)

Cool! So this can be done on wedding channel, huh? That''s great. And I could always include a little hand written note saying "just call and let me know!" for my older, non-e-friendly relatives.

I''d love to have my RSVPs done via e-mail or through a wedding website but we already have someone to do our invitations (that will come with an RSVP card). I know there could be problems relying on the internet and maybe it would cause too many issues. If you did them, make sure, as said above, that your directions are super clear. Make sure to be clear that people shouldn''t be looking in their mailbox for anything in paper form from you. Would your invitations be evites or is it just the reply "card" that would be done online?

I have a feeling traditional etiquette (sp?) says electronic messages for wedding invitations or replies are a big no-no. I do like the idea of saving trees though.

I really want to DIY the invitations... so only the RSVP's would be electronic.

We aren't having THAT many guests, so sitting in front of a movie with FI tying ribbon and stuff actually sounds like fun to me.

We just DIY''d our invites and they come out really well.

We included traditional RSVPs, just because it''ll be fun to get something in the mail other than credit card offers and bills!

As for the invites, they aren''t anything fancy. Just the invite (pretty traditional with a picture my mom drew of our friends'' backyard, where we are getting married). A simple RSVP card and envelope and our dr.suessy type wedding poem.

It can totally be done...and I just like the idea of RSVP cards.

There''s a point. It WOULD be really fun to get all those little cards in the mail.

Yes, that''s a good point. I don''t about you, but I almost get the same "excitement" though out of seeing a new message in my email''s inbox that I do with seeing mail in the mailbox.
