Hello fellow PSers!

This is my first post here on pricescope but I'm no stranger to these forums. I've
been soaking up as much information as possible for the last 4 months
which ultimately helped me make an informed decision on such a significant purchase. I
must say that after visiting numerous retail jewelery stores that most of the people
that work in them knew far less than I did about diamonds, even after I'd only been
researching PS and GOG for a few weeks!!! A lot of people in the industry are simply retail clerks,
not much different from the guy at best buy in the DVD player section - they simply
don't have a deep knowledge or passion for what they are selling (no offense to any Best
Buy peeps out there... i love that store :-P)

Speaking of people with a passion... Many thanks to all you who have posted here and a
huge thanks to Jonathan and Christen @Good Old Gold for a great diamond, invaluable
education, and the awesome delivery package (w/loupe, H&A viewer, Gemex printouts, GIA
certs, etc, etc..). Also a big thanks goes to Linda @ Ackerman jewelers in Tampa, Fl who
set my stone and helped me through a tireless search for a setting - even though I
didn't buy a diamond from them they were still incredibly helpful and very impressed by
the quality of the diamond from GOG.

So, now the ring specs....
GOG 1.08ct, G, S12 (super eye-clean) Tolkowsky Ideal Cut H&A

I was a bit worried about purchasing an S12 but after having Christen @ GOG check it
over for me she gave it the "Best SI2 I've ever seen" stamp of approval so I went for it. She
was right, very eye clean! I have looked at some S12's that where pretty bad so they most
certainly require a good look over before purchase. I really wanted to go for a VS2 but
just couldn't get the Ideal Cut, color, and size i wanted within my budget (which had
already grown beyond the original budget). In the end I'm extremely happy with the way
it turned out.

The setting is a Natalie K white gold setting with .90tcw G VS2-SI1 diamonds - this
setting finally became "the one" after an exhausting search online and at many Tampa
area stores. I don't have any links to the setting as it literally just came out about
two weeks ago and it's not posted on the Natalie K site yet.

Camera is an old Canon Powershot S200 2MP... hopefully i can get some more good shots with my 7.1MP SD800IS once I get a replacement battery.

So now it's time to figure out how to propose... we're going to the Sante Fe Riu in Cabo San Lucas at the end of the month so as long as we don't have a typhoon beating down on us that should be a good place :-)

Thanks again PSers!
Justin
