E-ring Experience from wax to platinum!

After much lurking around and asking of the odd question, this forum and website have been a huge part of my diamond purchase decision. Although we have not seen the actualy setting finished in platinum yet, we should be getting pictures today.

I wanted to share my experience with everyone as it may help some other lurkers out in decision making.


Here is the scenario: I am the kind of person who will do research on things I am looking to purchase until I am blue in the face. I started seriousyl looking at diamonds and rings around the start of the new year. I did about 2 full months of research before making a purchase. I have been dealing with Howard Goodman from Norman Goodman Co. down in California. the whole transaction has been fantastic to this point, and communication has been prompt and extensive.

We also decided to do a custom mount for this stone, so it will be similiar to a hearts on fire ring. here is a pic of the setting from hearts on fire

Howard had his people do up a wax replica of that ring, here you can see it below. it looks rough compared to the final product.

And here is the first picture back form Howard of the polished and buffed ring totally finished. I wish the lighting was better... I cant wait to get this thing out in the direct sunlight where it will really shine.

We Chose 90% Platinum and 10% iridium for the setting. The side stones are H vs2 .02 Cts. so the ring has 0.92 total Carat Weight.

very beautiful and classic, i love the darker sparkle images like that...it really shows how the diamond and ring will look in dimmer lights rather than a sunny day...lovely...

also i like the side view, low profile ... oh and the stone looks GREAT as well! kudos!

Yeah that was my girlfriends major concern.. she really doesnt like the high settings, wanted something low yet eye catching. She uses her hands alot for work, so she doesnt want it to catch on things.

It should be here on monday we are so excited!!!

Hand shots should be coming VERY VERY shortly... I just have to go pick up the ring from fedex!!

as for a band we are not too sure yet, I think she will have to go try it with several different bands to find one suitable. She is not totally sure if she wants diamonds in the band or if she just wants a simple platinum band.

this is the actual matching band, but she has fairly small hands and doesnt know if it would look good.
