WARNING: PICTURE OVERLOAD!

I have long admired a pair of earrings made by Diamonds by Lauren but my budget wouldn''t run to them.

So, I hope David doesn''t mind but I''ve had my own pair made (albeit with differences). What do they say? To copy is the sincerest form of flattery?

The story:
I bought a pair of irradiated pink diamond earrings (.20ct each) but they were in a white gold setting and just didn''t "pop". They also looked flesh coloured (yuck) and so I never wore them. Armed with photos of the earrings from David''s website, a few white diamonds I had that needed recycling and a friendly jeweller, the following was put together!

The result:
Metal: Palladium apart from screws/posts which are 9ct w/gold - screw backs and posts aren''t available in the UK in Palladium.
Centre stones: Irradiated pink diamonds set in rose gold - now they look pink!
Surrounding stones: Not sure of the total carat weight but all diamonds are H in colour and, believe it or not, I1 in clarity!

Of course David''s earrings were in 18k white gold with shepherds hook fastenings and had natural pink diamonds. Yummy.

I''m soooooooo pleased with these.

They sparkle like mad.

BTW I won''t wear them with the other earrings in the photo. I was just so excited and wanted to see them "in" so didn''t take the others out! I have a pair of w/gold bezel set studs that I will wear in my second hole which, I hope, will be a much better match!

Those earrings are fantastic congratulations! I rarely give praise these days as pricescope has made me very much desensitized but seeing those earrings I just love the style that you chose. I was about to praise RD from DBL (that would be a first!) but then I read on and you had them done by a local jeweler.

Thank you for your lovely comments. I''ve just taken another photo with my bezel set studs BUT I''m not sure that the proportions are right - I might have to find a smaller pair of studs!

Pretty earrings. Enjoy.

Brilliant. Where in the UK are you? Who set them for you?

Thank you for your lovely comments. I've just taken another photo with my bezel set studs BUT I'm not sure that the proportions are right - I might have to find a smaller pair of studs!

Also the two reasons why yours are BETTER than the one on DBL's site are:

1) I like centre with rounds as opposed to Square with round bezel set diamonds.
3) I suspect your diamonds are bigger and there is less metal in between them.

I've never felt anyone gets good value from buying from DBL, the rhetoric on his site on those earrings is really rediculous.

"A common question we get here: "I want a nice looking one carat pink diamond, and I've $10,000 to spend, what have you got?"

Many people who are diamond lovers- people familiar with colorless diamonds- have no idea whatsoever about a pink diamond.

How much would a nice one carat pink cost- if it was vividly colored as these guys? Let's just say $250,000 for conversations sake.

Conversation's sake because if someone had one it could well be double. That's just how rare they are.

We got them directly from the cutter- no GIA's. They are guaranteed Natural. The color is incredibly pure pink."

- 250,000 for pink diamonds (yeah really relevant on the 11 point diamonds he is selling in these earrings)

- The really small 0.11carat each "Pure Pink" that he is selling if he had actually used the proper GIA terminology the diamonds themselves would go for between 1000 - 2000 depending on their true grade not the amazing adjectives used by RD.
- Direct from the cutter (lol they are all direct from a cutter it is uncommon for diamonds of this size and value to be graded just shows you the range of their true value). If its not worth the $150 each to grade them how much could they actually be worth???

- A joke to pay an extra $3500 - $4500 for 0.5 carat of colorless diamonds and some white gold and rose goild earrings that look to be about an inch - inch and a half long.

Loving Diamonds I am very happy you got much better value on your earrings and avoided grossly overpaying at Diamonds By Lauren.

Very pretty.

These turned out beautifully!

I saw the ''inspiration'' pair in real life and would have taken them home with me in a heartbeat if I''d had cash (and if DH hadn''t been with me and if I hadn''t just bought studs...). Having seen them, I''d say they''re worth every penny.

Your interpretation of them is just stunning and the style really suits you. I agree that maybe the studs are a little large next to them, so it looks like you''re going to be forced to buy a new pair of studs, too. What a pity!

Enjoy your gorgeous new PINK earrings, they''re delightful.
