I have always wanted an east/west oval solitaire setting, but was recently told that setting an oval diamond e/w makes the bowtie bigger. Is that true? Any other suggestions if that doesn''t work out for me?

Thanks!

yes, but with the right vendor eye selecting them you can find one that doesn''t have one.

Yes, as STRM says, but different cutting can greatly reduce bowtie in any orientation, so check them all. It is rare to find a good one, but worth the effort. On the other hand (no pun intended) east-west is awkward and catches on things more than north-south.
