I found this on Ebay and decided to take a chance and bid on it. Its around .60ct and the colour looks quite low.... maybe an M or N. I got it for a really good price. It arrived today. Its lovely but there is a rather large chip on the girdle which wasn't in the listing. There is also a large inclusion just under the table but its not visible without a loupe.

Will you keep it? Its a lovely ring, but will the chip make it worth less than what you paid? (I adore it btw, and nice to pose a vintage camera with it.)

As soon as I saw it I loved it. I really don't want to return it. I am working with the seller to find a happy place for both of us :))

I bought that camera from a lovely lady on Etsy. I have it displayed in my living room on some antique books.

Whose wedding photo in the background? :)

It's lovely! The setting goes perfectly with it.

Damn PS brainwashing! Now I want a vintage camera to put on my vintage books!

I love the ring. Yes there's a gash, but to me that just gives it more character.

That is my mother in 1969 :))

I really love the setting. The best part is the patina on the platinum. :appl:

You know it only cost me $20! (the camera not the ring!) I thought that was a huge bargain! There is one here for $35 http://www.etsy.com/listing/35310263/vintage-camera-ansco-shur-shot-junior

I don't mind the chips as long as they don't threaten the safety of the diamond. I agree, it gives character.

Yes! I am one of the best! :appl: *Takes a bow*

It is really lovely Maise, and the setting is so pretty!

I think as long as you pay a fair price for what the diamond is, you can rest easy with the purchase for sure. I hope you can reach a fair agreement with the seller.

Thank you D. I really love the patina on the platinum. The seller has agreed to refund 25% of the cost of the ring. I think this is fair.

It is beautiful! I especially love the prongs

I love the ring Maisie! The setting is beautiful, and I love those prongs...and the stone is pretty, a lot of these older stones have chips, they've been around a long time! I'm glad you came to an agreement with the seller. Enjoy your pretty new ring!

Hi Maisie,
I'm glad the ring worked out for you - the setting really is darling, and the faceting of the OEC looks really pretty.
It is a shame about the non-disclosure of the clarity & chip in the listing, but I'm glad you've come to a resolution with the seller -
with a further 25% off, I reckon you got yourself a very nice deal - congrats ::)

I think it's very pretty! I love old mountings. I'm happy you're going to keep it.

Pretty ring!

I have been wearing the ring for a couple of days now and I really adore it. Its pretty and has such a sweet sparkle in low light. I think I read somewhere that OEC diamonds were cut to perform best in candle light. Mine definitely prefers it :))

Then I'd say you're just going to have to have more candle lit dinners with your honey ;)) !

Chip or no chip-it's a lovely stone and setting! I am happy the seller was able to work with you and that everything turned out well.
