Good morning,
It´s been almost 10 years since I purchased, with your help, a wonderful H&A solitaire for my then-girlfriend.
I´m now shopping for a larger EC eternity ring and would love your views. As with the solitaire, I am trying to find the best possible cut quality (which has really paid off in the case of the solitaire, couldn´t be happier with the engagement ring, a joy to watch it every single day.)
Thinking of about 10ct in total (.5-.6 ct per stone x 1, EC, G color, VS1 (maybe VS2?), and a full platinum eternity band. I know, not a very practical ring, cannot be resized etc. but I think it´s what my wife has set her heart on We did try someting comparable in a store and it did look very nice...
- Any recommendations for vendors? IDJ came up a lot in other posts. I´d be looking for someone who really puts the time in to source stones that fit well together and will be selective in getting a fantastic cut. And it´d be ok for me if that comes at a price. Btw, I went with Whiteflash for the H&A and was very happy. At least back then this was a fantastic recommendation form this forum.
- Setting: Would you get this custom made separately? The solitaire has a Mark Morrell setting which turned out very nice. Not necessarily super easy to work with him, though Alternatively, just go with something from the vendor? Any thoughts on what type of setting would allow the stones to sit closest to the finger, i.e. would decrease the overall diameter of the ring?
- Would you get GIA certificates for each stone? I don´t care about the certificate per se, tbh. Alternatively, could one just trust the grading of the vendor? I guess sth like color would be very hard to grade again once the stones have been set. Would love to avoid to end up with H or I stones while paying for G
- In terms of "eye cleannes" and "whiteness" under pratical conditions, would G/VS1 be a good sweet spot? Similar to round cut diamonds, or anything else to take into account?
Many thanks in advance for your kind help!
Best, Jan
