I've been a PS lurker for about 9 months, learning as much as I can after a chain jeweler cracked (yep, cracked) my original emerald cut diamond given to me 13 years before by my DH and which was not purchased from that chain jeweler. The original EC was 1.18 cts G-VS2 with a really great spread (only 61% depth!). Fortunately, after much research on our part, and 4 months of haggling with the corporate giant, we were provided with an acceptable replacement that faced up quite similar in spread to my old stone. Because I wasn't sentimentally attached to the new diamond, I decided to newly set the EC as a RHR and also proceed with a fresh start/upgrade for my left hand. I worked with a local jeweler on sourcing a pair of emerald cut tsavorites to flank the EC, after we determined it would be very difficult to get trapezoid cut tsavs. Originally, I wanted double claw prongs, but this EC has such teeny corners that my jeweler felt wouldn't accommodate the claws. Also, I wanted to keep costs down so I could spend more later on the left hand upgrade, so I went with a modified Stuller setting in 14k white gold. The jeweler had the side baskets of one of the Stuller stock settings enlarged to accommodate the 6x4 calibrated tsavorites. Stats on the EC center: 1.52 ct I-VS2 diamond (64% depth). RH middle finger size: 7.75. I'm really happy with how it all turned out. I've learned so much from PS, I hope this helps someone else turn an unfortunate saga into something wonderful. Thanks all.
I'm working with GOG for my left hand upgrade - more on that to come in the future!
For now, here are some pics of my RHR (please ignore my middle aged hands):
