Hi,
I need some help working out ideal stone sizes and specs for a 3 - 4.5 approx tcw emerald eternity band - platinum. This one from ID looks good - budget is about $5 - $7k and finger size is 5.5 or 6.
https://idjewelry.com/4-00-ct-class...e-yellow-rose-gold-or-platinum-id-yge400.html

I am not an expert on emerald cuts by any means so am finding it a little difficult to understand what specs are ideal.

Does anyone have any pics to share of similar sized rings or any advice?

It's a beautiful ring. However, no specs of the stones is available (that I can see, anyway).
If you want amazing EC specs, look for these:
VS2-IF clarity (unless you want stones under 25 points-you can easily use SI2-SI1 clarity for those).
VG-EX Symmetry & Polish
Step Cuts are tricky; you must see them in action to know how well Cut they are, and to know for certain they are not dark in any areas, due to poor placement of any pavilion steps.
Are you creating this ring, and building it from paper, or are you searching through what already exists? To have diamonds sourced for a project like this is quite difficult, depending on who is sourcing them, how many you need, and your spec specifications....
I must also add that "Ideal Cut" Step Cuts are very rare to impossible. If you look within the above parameters, you will find the closest to "ideal" as is humanly possible to find.

Thank you!
The only specs they provide is 24 diamonds tcw 3.9 (so 0.1625 each stone) F - G colour and VS clarity.
I'm not sure sure if 0.16 is too small for an emerald cut and might be better off going for a 3/4 eternity and having 20 pointers?

Either or about creating or buying what already exists, I guess I'm just after best quality workmanship and value for money.

Your finger & ring size is the same as mine.
The l x w ratio of each EC will determine how you want to do this. Carat weight of each stone is not key to creating this ring, it's l x w mm proportions that is. Each diamond must be the same size in l & w in mm in order for you to create a band, like this, whether it's full Eternity, 3/4 or 1/2.
I am in the process of creating an Asscher Anniversary Band. I am sourcing 7 3mm-3.75mm sq stones for my band. They will weigh approx 25-33 points, each, but their diameters must match precisely, or I can't fit them. 7 25-33 point Asschers, measuring between 3.0mm-3.75mm sq will reach 3/4 around my finger, and I wear a size 6 ring for comfort (my fingers are 5.5-5.75).
If you source EC's, you must have exact proportions, as well. If one stone is 3.5mm wide x 4mm long, they all must be.
It is best for you to try on Eternity, 3/4 Eternity & 1/2 Eternity bands (even if the stones are round) to get an idea of size in diameter & length for your EC's. With fingers tiny like ours, a little bit goes a long way. ;)2
I'd guestimate you'd need at most 11 20-25 point EC's for a full Eternity, depending on the width of the diamonds.
If you need further assistance, I'm more than happy to oblige. :mrgreen2:

Idk, you lose a lot of the beauty of step cuts when this tiny. why not baguettes which are more available ? Have you thought about french cut diamonds?

Yes, that was my concern, I have seen some stunning 6tcw and above which is out of my budget I think, I was worried that the stone becomes too small to really see the beauty of an emerald cut.

Can you show me a pic of what you mean by a french cut band?

Here are a few videos that might help you visualize the size. I would assume most of the finger models are around a 6.

3 ctw.
2.4 ctw.
2.9 ctw carre cut.
2.4 baguette band.
IDJ does not give weight.

Did you see???? http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/4-71ct-antique-asscher-cut-diamond-gia-wx-vs2
(sorry for the thread-jack OP)

That band is beautiful! did you go for the 7 stone ring instead of full eternity to have bigger stones?
I don't believe in stones being where I can't see them. :cheeky: I'm also not a fan of eternity rings bc they can't be resized.

I love IDJ's elongated EC Eternity...
I'd be happy with a 1/2-3/4 of that ring!

I don't have major concerns with the resizing aspect. I've really only had one finger size, give or take half a size and i do not foresee that changing.

Then you are a rare women. For others, finger sizes can change over time due to weight loss/gain, medications, pregnancy, surgery, weather, finger injury, and aging can increase knuckle size (this started affecting my mom around age 50). :wavey:

Hoping someone will be able to share some pics of a 4ctw band?

I think it'd be better for you to focus on which size pointers you'd like to see. Ctw will vary based on finger sizes.

I'm hoping to see a mix of sizes to help me make up my mind. 0.15 and 0.20 would be most helpful.
