Emeralds

I have had an emerald engagement ring and an emerald eternity band for the last 25 years. I wear them every day and don't do anything special to them. They are in cold weather, hot weather, swimming pool, ocean, snow, rain, kids, pets you name it. I just got a 2 carat emerald with a carat of diamonds for my 25th anniversary and my jeweler tells me that I have to take special care of my ring. I should not wear them every day and I should be gentle with them. I had heard emeralds were more delicate than diamonds or sapphires but my have stood the test of time.
Should I really be babying my precious emeralds?

Thank you so much. Yes that was very helpful. I will continue to wear my rings, but I will be more careful. If I liked diamonds better I would have my husband start buying diamonds for me. I just think they look very cold. But I will try to baby my emeralds.

Have you looked at OECs in a warmer color? I find the vintage cut diamonds are so beautiful and can be very creamy/ivory/pastel. (Just head to Show me the Bling to see more).
