It happened!!! I got engaged on New Years Eve. I've been lurking on here for about half a year, steadily changing my mind about my diamond and ring preferences. I've definitely learned so much about diamonds in this past year.

So back to the story. Yes, we were on vacation in Jamaica for New Years when he popped the question on the beach during cocktail hour. I started giggling when he began proposing. All I kept thinking is "It's happening. It's really happening."

We purchased the stone and the ring from Brian Gavin. Great selection. I'm very pleased with them overall. My boyfriend, ahem, fiancee was on board with hearing my preferences but in the end I wanted to let him make the choice. And a great choice he made. The ring itself has 3 rows of micropave circling the band halfway. This adds a lot of sparkle and sass. And the diamond itself! What a sparkler! It is such a firecracker. I've never seen a diamond sparkle soooo much. Once I received the ring, I started comparing my diamond to my colleagues/friends and hands down, I can't find one that has the brilliance and sparkle of this one. The color is on the warmer side but this is barely noticable since the diamond is constantly shooting fire. I seriously can not get over how beautiful this ring is. Some of the diamond specs are as follows:

3.05ct
GIA certified
J color, no fluor.
Ideal cut

The ring:
Ring size 5 1/2
2.5mm wide domed band with 3 rows of approx. 0.50 ctw F/G VS diamond melee set half way around the shank and the classic Tiffany style 6 prong head.

I have not seen the report itself so will update with all of the stats as soon as I get my hands on it. I'm so happy.

And yes, it is totally killing me that I do not have all of the diamond specifications to share with you. I know how much I love reading all of the details especially when I see a beautiful rock!

I have been wanting to upgrade my setting to this style for a while so i have a quick question for you-does the pave rub on your fingers or is it smooth? Sorry if it seems like a strange question! It looks like it is very comfy.

Dani, Thank you. We did enjoy Jamaica. We stayed at Couples Resort Tower Isle. It was all inclusive, and by all inclusive I mean even the activities (golf, snorkeling, scuba, catamaran rides, kayaking, horse back riding, etc) are all included. I've visited various islands in the Carribean (Bahamas, Jamaica, Aruba, etc) and thoroughly enjoyed this recent trip. Service was OUTSTANDING! For a resort that has a NO-Tip policy, I was truly surprised at how the staff went out of there way. The beach was nice, kind of small, but well maintained. The thing about this resort is that they do not overcrowd it. You never feel like you have to fight for a lounge chair or a decent dining experience. I've definitely been at resorts where you have to stand in line at 7am to resesrve a lounge chair and this was not the experience we had. Also the bar is TOP notch. Pool areas and the overall resort are beautiful. My bf, now fiance, and I tend to stay at 4 and 5 star properties and this one definitely does well. I recommend it.

Kasey3,

I find this ring to be extremely comfortable. The sidestones do not rub or chaff the inside of my fingers. I think this has to do with:
1) the stones being a tiny melee. They are small enough and the band is so gently rounded that it I do not notice any discomfort.
2) the stones only sit half-way around the band instead of going 3/4 or all the way around.

I, too, was initially concerned about the ring/stones chaffing my fingers because of stories my friends have told me. This ring has been heavenly in the lack of this.

As of wearing the ring for 6 days, I love it and highly recommend it. It is sooo beautifully made and the small melee stones add so much additional sparkly. Just about every girl that has seen it has swooned. When I was looking for a ring, I wanted:

Sparkle
Class
Luxe but not over the top
One I can wear out, to the gym, to work, etc- a versatile ring. This defintely is.

Best of luck on your upgrade.

Lula, I agree completely. BGD really met and exceeded my expectations. For how moderately priced this setting is, I am receiving an amazing 3 row melee!!! I'm still amazed at how beautiful this setting is. I originally wanted to work with Leon Mege but after debating it, I decided to focus on the actual diamond over the setting. We were able to put the extra $$$ saved into a more beautiful, bigger stone and I'm so glad I did.

WOW!

BEAUTIFUL! Congratulations on your engagement! And that is one heck of a ring! Wear it in good health! :appl: ::)

Holy moly. That is stunning. Congratulations!!!
