Engagement Announcements

Hey ladies,
I'm just curious to know how popular Engagement Announcements are. FI and I are discussing whether or not it's worth it. So I thought I'd gather your opinions.

Yup, we''re doing one. I don''t think it matters if it''s pro or not, just as long as it''s a good quality picture and shows your beautiful faces!!

Both of our moms were all gung-ho about engagement announcements, we did not care either way. So we ended up with an announcement in each of our hometown newspapers. My mother was jealous when the annoucement in FI''s home newspaper came out first despite my mother submitting her announcement a month earlier. It was really funny watching her get all frustrated at the newspaper.

We used a picture of us on the night we got engaged before we went out to dinner. It was more meaningful than a professional picture 2 months later. That and we''re not doing professional pictures until the wedding, so it was an easy decision.

We''re not doing one. We''re both too lazy, and we figure everyone we care about already knows we''re getting married anyway.

We''re not doing one either as I don''t think it''s big over here. If I was doing it, I would probably prefer one without my picture.

We didn''t do one - it''s not as common over here to have an engagement announcement. If you do end up doing one, I think a picture would be nice to include. Doesn''t necessarily have to be a professional picture either.

We did one with a pro photo...I kind of like the pro photos more personally, but some of the non-pros can look really good, too!

We did not have one. We called all of our family and friends the day after to tell them the news and we had an engagement party a few months after.

I think if you want one though its a lovely idea, especially if you can find a nice photo of the both of you to have on it
