First, I want to take a second to thank anyone who reads this an anyone else who decides to help me out...
Like most guys, I am a bit overwhelmed with this entire ring-buying process...
Anyways, I found a stone that I like at a decent price GIA Certified, 1.00 carat, E color, SI-1 Clarity, Round Cut (I don't remember the price but let's say it's around 6500?)
When trying to figure out the solitaire setting with diamonds up the band (in a Platinum setting), the settings the jeweler showed me were kind of cheap looking / the rings didn't look nice at all. I didn't ask, but do we think he was just showing me settings to get an idea of what the actual ring would look like? Is there a way to tell that the ring itself is Platinum?
Next, how does one determine what the specifications are on the band? Should you ask what the 4 c's are on them? Should these also include a certificate if they are GIA / EGL certified?
The reason I ask all of these questions is because I went to another jeweler that told me the center stone would be 1.06 carats and the stones up the band were totaled to be .36 carats where as the one I am working with right now did not / has not. Should I be weary?
Thanks again for all your help
