I''m so excited we finally set a date for our engagement party!!!

My parents are throwing it for us but couldn''t host it until my little sister''s room was finished being remodeled...and NOW IT IS!

So we will have it at the begining of December. We are inviting our families (parent, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc.) Should be a lot of fun! I''m super excited!

Another thing I''m excited about is since we are having the engagement party close to Christmas we are going to incorporate it with a "Christmas Ornament shower." So basically on the invite it will explain for our guests to bring an ornament for the newly engaged couple so that we can start our ornament collection now. I have been to an ornament shower in the past and I LOVE the idea...so I''m excited about that too.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to word the invite in asking them to bring an ornament? I''m going to search the net...but if you have suggestions bring them on!!

YIPPE!!

I don''t have any suggestions, but I''m totally jealous! We do a grab bag with FI''s family for Christmas and his mom was asking what she should tell people we want. I told her I want a commemorative ornament, but by the time I actually get it, if that''s what I get, it''ll be Christmas Eve. I''ll still have it for next year though.

Ah!! I hadn''t even though that we''d have the ornaments for THIS years Christmas....I''m not sure if I''ll use them until we''re married and living together. We do still decorate the tree at FI''s place and all, but I think I''ll save the ornaments I get at the party until next Christmas for our FIRST CHRISTMAS AS A MARRIED COUPLE! Whoohoo!

I will put the "Engaged 2006" ornament up on our tree this year tough.

I once went to a "Tree Decorating" party. How about a "Tree Decorating Party in Honor of the Newly Engaged Couple..." but that''s not the same an an "Engagement Party". Sounds like really nice idea.

How cute is this?!?

"Help decorate their Christmas tree and bring an ornament for the Bride and Groom to be!"

thanks for the advice swingirl!!

I''ve never heard of this idea so I can''t help, but that''s a lovely idea Rose! Congratulations!

I usually have a tree trimming party every year and say food and drinks will be provided, but they''re welcome to bring an ornament for the tree! Since your parents are throwing the party and it''s an engagement party, I don''t see any problem in asking they bring an ornament. I recall seeing ''wishing well'' on many a shower invitation which means not only do you have to bring a regular gift for those, you have to bring another small one to put in the wishing well!!
