FI and I are going into the city tomorrow for engagement pics. I''ve never been photographed by a professional photographer before, and I''m wondering if anyone has any tips on how to be photographed, lol! It sounds stupid, but I don''t want to mess this up. The photographer is photojournalistic photographer, and I would appreciate any tips on how to be a good subject for this type of photography. Thanks!

Your photog should be able to walk you through it okay. The thing with photojournalistic photography is it''s more about catching true emotion/experience than pointing and shooting at a line of people. I would say:

1. relax. He/she will tell you where/when to pose (or if you even should pose at all)
2. Think happy thoughts that would incite positive emotions from you (your wedding day, your first kiss, even just thinking how much you love FI).
3. try to express said emotion in your eyes. I know it sounds silly, but you really can smile with your eyes.
and the most important-4. HAVE FUN!!!!

We just had our engagement session done last week and I found it helpful to just pretend the photographer isn''t really there. I mean obviously they are there, they''ll be talking to you and stuff, but I just really tried to focus on my fiance and pretend it was only he and I there and not feel awkward about someone taking pictures of us. And also, try to have fun! Don''t worry about trying to look a certain way, if that makes sense. Fake smiles come across in photos. Just be yourself and you''ll have a blast!

I loved our engagement photos! We really had fun doing them. Our secret (and this may or may not work for you depending on personal beliefs...) we met each other beforehand at a fun bar and had a few drinks each.

It really made the day more fun to take off early during the work week, feel like we were on a date, and the alcohol of course helped us "relax" for the pictures. This was especially helpful for my husband who is not super comfortable in front of people/photographers. It also made me smile a little bit inside because everytime someone told us "oh ya''ll look so happy in the pictures" I was thinking "well we were EXTRA happy that day."

*such* a good idea!!!

Thanks for all of your tips, ladies!
FI and I had an awesome time in Philly taking the pics.
Our photog took about 500 pictures.
We can''t wait to see them, and when we get them in the mail, I''ll post the good ones. Thanks!!
