Engagement Ring Diamond

What do the members of this forum think of this diamond for an engagement ring? Thank you for your help

Here's my advice... which I know is not going to be the "normal price scope way" since I was absolutely torched by PS users back in 2018 when looking a ~2ct engagement ring as well.

First off, yes the diamond is linked to Whiteflash, but this isn't one of their normal in-house (a cut above) lines. I think this is from their (premium select) virtual inventory. Don't get me wrong, WF won't put trash in their virtual inventory, but this isn't the normal quality you'd want from WF.

Second, I don't know how eagle-eyed your ring recipient is, but for some... a VS2 with any inclusions on the table on a diamond this large is a deal-breaker. In my personal experience... someone would see the inclusion, and think it's some dust or weird thing. Then she'd try to rub it off. Then bad things would happen.

So given these two things... I'd say the diamond you linked should be put on the back burner until you can make sure it's "ok".

Being said, at your budget, I'd like the below diamonds better from WF. Although that little spec near the 10 o'clock arrow of the first one gives me pause. Of course I'm sure lots of people would like this example diamond. But if you're spending this much - it better be "perfect" and not close lol. I believe WF will send you a diamond for inspection. Maybe even have her scrutinize the sample... because you know she's going to be staring at it!

PS, one last thing; if you're setting in white gold or platinum I think an I color may be too far down the range since the white gold is such a bright contrast. But I think rose gold or yellow gold could deal with this I color better.

I really like the H VS2 that holeydonut posted.

Thank you holey donut. I looked at both diamonds you linked and looking at the second one there seem to be way more crystals, feathers and clouds than the first one. So I am confused why the second one (2.061 carat, H, VS2) would be better than the first one. To be hones I am fine going up on price to 35 K if it will make the diamond much more pleasing for my wife. I would appreciate any other insight you or the group members have or if you have any other diamonds you can link to.

Thank you

Here are another 3 I looked up. Again, I have zero experience with this so any input appreciated.

Could you tell me what you like about it just so I can understand what I am missing. All of these look similar to me.

The 2.061 looks cleaner under the table and is also an ACA as opposed to a Premium Select (i.e. higher cut precision) for almost the same price as the 2.05.

Of the three G stones you posted, I like the 2.024 the best for the size of its inclusions.

Here is an F color around the same price range.

And an H VS1 if you want to increase the clarity.

I would pick your top 3-4 favorites and ask WF for a side-by-side photo to help you decide.

Sorry I should elaborated a bit more.

Most on PS and just about anywhere will say a VS2 inclusion is very small and wouldn’t actually be visible to a normal human. Like, even if it were noticeable ... the inclusions would apear to be a piece of dust. And all diamonds will get dusty so it wouldn’t matter.

The problem for me was that my wife saw some GIA VS1/VS2's in person and could see the "dust". Then she'd try to wipe that dust off and realize it's just part of the diamond. So from there, I realized VS = nope. So, I personally had to go into VVS2 or VVS1 which severely limited my options. I got absolutely torched on PS for being lame and worrying about "dust". Not cool to be a noob whose spouse has really good vision I guess. Also doesn't help that apparently I suck?

For example, that 2.04 VS1 (AGS 104118464001) you just posted has that little spec in the 9-oclock spot on the table. That would scare me lol. My wife opted for slightly smaller 1.8ct diamond to get VVS2 instead of 2.0ct to get VS1. I feel like involving her in that decision saves me from hearing about a dusty diamond.

If you select from WF's "a cut above" line is that they'll send you the stone to inspect. This means your future-wife can test her eye-clean-ness before you spend money. If she's fine with VS2, by all means take the opportunity to get a VS2. I don't think WF will let you inspect a "virtual inventory" stone.

So at your price point, I would advise that you get some VS2s in front of the diamond recipient and make sure things are ok looking at the world through her eyes. But I admit, those >$30k stones you just posted would be great for 99.9% of the population. But on the flip side, I'd wager only 1 in every 1,000 women are getting diamond engagement rings with diamonds this big and shiny. So, it seems to me that it's worth the extra investment in time (and maybe some shipping dollars) to make sure everything's going to be ok.

Unfortunately all the 2ct and greater VVS2's on WF go over $35k :(

BTW, check this bad boy out... I want to see this in person to behold the splendor lolol.

Ooooo I think this is the winnar...

Premium Select is one of the three lines of in-house WF diamonds:

A Cut Above
Expert Selection
Premium Select

All three lines are fully vetted by human hands and eyes, plus encompassed by their very forgiving and outstanding upgrade program.

I see nothing of major concern with this particular PS diamond...the only things that makes me wonder why it didn't pop an ACA classification are the 75% lowers (WF has a range of 76-80% requirement for ACA) and GIA vs AGS.

Ditto @DejaWiz

Expert Selection and Premium Selection are in-house lines...not virtual.

@MOLiving Some people are very sensitive to clarity and it can also be a "mind-clean" issue. Most* people are happy when
something is eye-clean at "normal" viewing distance or up close. They do not want to pay for something that has no effect on
what they see.

You need to figure out what is important to you*. You can ask WF to evaluate stones and let you know what they see. If it's important
to you that nothing be seen at any distance...then tell them. Otherwise, if it's a mind-clean thing then you may want to go up to the VVS
level.

Any suggestions on a simple 6 prong ring to place the WF diamond on? I think either white gold or platinum should be fine.

If you're ok with simple ... just get a solitaire setting from whiteflash?

But I figure for a baller azz diamond like what you're shopping for, a slightly more baller ring would be cool hah.

BTW I may be in the minority on this... my opinion is platinum is better than white gold for something that gets worn a lot like an engagement ring.

Yeah, @MamaBear 's post would basically be what MOLiving could end up with. Always exciting to see these rings come together!

I am very happy with the petite valoria!

Okay I ordered the diamond on a platinum petite valoria ring. Will send pics when it arrives. Thank you everyone for your help.

Fantastic! Looking forward to seeing your photos!

Hi. The 2.04 VS1 (AGS 104118464001) with the spot in the 9:00 position does not show up on the diamond’s certification. What would it be?
