Hi All,

I've been researching rings for an engagement for a few weeks now and the more I learn the more I get overwhelmed. I'm hoping this community might be able to help. I've posted in the lab created forum as well as I'm open to a lab diamond too but I am curious if there is any possibility of finding a natural yellow diamond with the following specifications:

Cushion Cut
Fancy Yellow
Platinum setting
Pavé or side diamonds (not quite sure what the difference is but I definitely want diamonds on the setting)
Budget $3500-4000 for entire ring
Open to whatever carat size is possible
Basket or at least a medium-low setting

I love this ring but because it's sold I don't have any idea what's possible in my budget:

I've looked at a bunch of diamonds with Brilliant Earth and James Allen but I really don't know how to select a good quality real diamond.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated and if I'm forgetting details please let me know!

Thank you in advance

If you want a fancy, David at DBL is your guy. Look over his site, including the loose stones and see if there’s anything in stock. If not call him and see what he has in inventory. He’s a pleasure to work with, and enjoys the old school, face to face or live phone interaction. He and his bench can remake a ring on his site that has sold.

If you’re going fancy, you’ll need to think about clarity. Clarity is simply not as important or valued in colored diamond. That said, certain inclusions can cause a diamond to be more prone to damage if knocked hard. And I fear a mined fancy in a platinum setting with pave under $4000 might be a stretch. DBL prices are gooood and as you can see a mined cushion fancy in a solitaire is more in the 4k range. That said, I think this is lovely http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/82ct-yellow-si2-cushion-diamond-ring-r4120

Could you consider a plain solitaire and a pave wedding band, spend the expense out a bit more over time. A plain solitaire and a pave pans is an elegant, timeless look.

I would contact David at DBL and ask what he can do in your budget. He has mined and lab diamonds.

HI:

As previously suggested DBL might have what you are looking for. Doesn't hurt to ask.

cheers--Sharon

b2c jewels has a selection of inexpensive yellow diamonds but you have to know how to read a cert and what you are looking for. If quality is more appeal then DBL is better.

Thanks! I'm in contact with him right now so it's nice to hear I'm in good hands.

That is beautiful. I have thought about a plain band with three stones, the fancy yellow in the middle and a small triangle diamond on each side. I would love to see what could be made with pave that's close to my budget even if it has to go a bit over.

My understanding of diamonds is minimal at this point so would love to work with a quality jeweler that can help me navigate it. Thanks, I've reached out to DBL!
