Engagement ring thickness

Hi all, need some guidance

What should the ideal thickness of an engagement ring be? I am looking at a solitaire six pronged engagement ring for a 2.4 ct diamond. My girlfriend prefers thin rings. So what should the thickness be without compromising on the durability while still be quite thin.

A well cut 2.40ct is going to be in the neighborhood of 8.6mm, so the base of the head should have at least 2mm to sit on (minimum) for security. A 2.2mm shank (minimum) would be the best. If a setting is too delicate, it can easily bend, especially if it's platinum. It's not just about the width of the setting but the metal height as well. If it's a more delicate setting, it should have at lease 1.8mm height.

Hope this helps!
