Hello - after being almost there for months, it's happening and fortunately I have been able to get more information about specifically what she wants! She wants a pear diamond, close to 3 carats and she wants a longer one vs a squattier one. After spending quite a bit of time trying to understand and judge what an excellent cut with a round, I am feeling lost with the pears other than I know that you don't want a big bow tie looking head on.

The budget is flexible but ideally in the $30-35k range.

Would anyone be able to provide suggestions? A few diamonds I have found and would love feedback on.

Thank you for the help!

Pears/ fancies hard to really judge without ASET showing light performance (maybe you can request if BN has access to an ASET image).... Nevertheless, the F has longer ratio 1.67 v 1.52 ...The F has 4 Pavilion Facet Mains vs The G 8 so they have slight diff looks / light + flash size... Clarity wise close ~ small black table crystal on the G - both have twining wisps so likely cut from Macle rough.....F Has Strong Blue FL vs G w/ Med FL...(I only buy Strong/Very S) but some people/cultures avoid Fluorescence and the market discounts the prices esp in the colorless range...Pears show color more than rounds and larger Ct. sizes more so, so if color sensitive a colorless F is safer call... I like the lower depth on the F vs the G...

here are the links to the loupe videos with the GIA numbers in case you want to price check (or ask BN to price match) other vendors selling the same stones.... (you can also better see the shape and tint differences)

Hi! Huge welcome to PS!

Upon looking at both diamonds, both have Blue Fluoro… is that something you are ok with? The first one having Strong Blue, which, unless potential blue in the sun doesn’t bother you, I might stay away from. Also, both shapes are pretty different flavors. Have you considered what ratio she likes? You can figure that out by dividing the length by the width. Typical ratio averages are somewhere between 1.50- 1.70, with the 1.50 being chubbier. I like a longer pear and my recent purchase is 1.67.

I was in this EXACT SCENARIO… same size, budget, and shape! I reached out to Yekutial at ID Jewelry and he was able to call in diamonds and scope them out for me- always below the cost of online vendors… He came under budget, and found me EXACTLY what I was looking for in crazy record time- I wasn’t even in a rush! Lol!

Fancies are HARD! They have their own personality and flavor. I definitely wanted a longer, but not too narrow Pear shape… I like the more elongated look vs. “chubby.” I ended up with an H, SI2 (extremely eye clean!), 3.02. She is PERFECT! Her measurements are 13.63x 8.09, so the perfect spread for me. We can all definitely help you here, but I would HIGHLY suggest you reach out to a PS vendor to be an extra set of professional eyes!! Keep us posted!

Do you know how you are planning on setting the diamond?
