Hello all,

I have been "lurking" (as we seem to say on Pricescope) for a while, and I've done a great deal of my diamond research on this site. This has been such a huge help, but after you've been educated on the important aspects that make a diamond beautiful, it is ultimately up to the buyer to filter through what they find beautiful. Personally, I couldn't afford a massive diamond, and I could hardly tell the difference between a D and an H (there is a slight difference in my eye....Please don't hang me for this!!!), and as for inclusions...what inclusions???? haha if you can't see it with the unaided eye, it might as well not be there. So ultimately I settled on this diamond (I will provide more specs and pictures once I get the ring from Mark Schneider and have my diamond set at the local B&M...which I have had an absolutely pleasant experience with. I know I paid a bit more, but they didn't rip me off either).

Diamond: 1.092ct round brilliant, H, SI1, AGS0 cut

Ering: Mark Schneider "Romance" (Sorry these are stock pictures, I promise I'll post some new pictures once I get the ring!!!)
As for the reason I chose this ring, my fiance-to-be (I HOPE!!!) really likes modern sleek lines with a diamond undergallery. And I love how it is matched with a wedding band, and is more of a unit. I like the idea of the ering and wband being one that are worn together.

Let me know what you think!!! (I hope this picture works!)

Congratulations on your up-coming engagement, the ring you''ve chosen is lovely, i''m sure she''ll adore it! It seems like you''ve put a lot of thought into it, and your future fiancee is going to appreciate it all the more! Congratulations!

I love the secret heart too!

I am sure it will be just lovely!!!

Another picture...Ering and wedding band. I really like how it is a unit! ...kinda like marriage!! (more pictures to come in a couple weeks when I get the ring!!!)

Any thoughts on the size of the diamond? I am having doubts that a 1.09ct diamond is too small...

BTW, I love your user name "Itsjustcarbon" - yes, to men I guess, but to us ladies, ahhhh, diamonds!!!

That''s a lovely setting with such a cute little heart. You must be a romantic guy to be picking out such a setting. She''s a very lucky lady. Good luck!!

awww...i love that cute little heart, adorable! Best of luck with the proposal!!

It`s a gorgeous set!!! I`m sure she will love it!

You did a great job, the ring is beautiful. I love the secret heart too!!

The whole set looks great together! And I don''t think 1.092 is small at all!

Beautiful choice. And the "secret heart" is so cute!

Congrats! and good luck. Be sure to come back with hand shots and the proposal story!

Looks beautiful! I love the secret heart detail, its gives it a little something special. Good luck! I''m sure she''ll love it

A carat is nothing to sneeze at, so no, I don''t think it''s too small! The set is beautiful and I love the secret heart too! Good luck with your proposal! Let us know how it goes!

Welcome to Pricescope!

That is a lovely set and just over a carat is a fantastic size - no worries!

That''s a really pretty set and I love the secret heart! I can''t wait to see pictures when it arrives!

That''s a pretty ring! What is her finger size? I have a one carat with big fingers, and it still looks great, I''m very very happy with the size of it! The wedding band will also make it look bigger, but the smaller her finger is, the bigger the diamond wil look....but like the other girls have been saying, a one carat diamond is NOT small at all! Good luck with your proposal! Its beautiful, she''ll love it!

She is a size 6.5. So I''m told that that''s about average. Thanks for all of the praise on the set, I looked FOREVER to find it. You just know when you''ve found THE ring. But also, thanks for quelling my doubts on the diamond size. It is truly a beautiful diamond, perfectly cut. I can''t wait!!!

Gorgeous! I love the surprise heart!

She will love it!
and one carat is not small.

PLease post hand shots when she says YES!!!

1.09 is plenty big and that ring has alot of bling

Beautiful ring!

Full Diamond Specs:

HCA Score: 1.4 Excellent
Light Return: Excellent
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread: Very Good (What is spread?)

Depth %: 61.1
Table %: 55.3
Crown Angle: 34.8
Pavilion Angle: 40.8 (seems that PA''s closer to 41 have less darkness in the center of the stone. The lower girdle facets are longer = more fire and more light return..learned that on goodoldgold.com!!! Their videos on this topic are phenomenal)
Culet: 0.1%

AGS: Ideal 0 cut

6.66mm x 6.67mm x 4.07mm

Just to clarify about the larger pavilion angle. What they show on goodoldgold.com is that when you increase the pavilion angle slightly (~41 degrees), it makes the "arms" of the arrows a little skinnier (making less contrast inside the stone), and making the brightness/light return seem a little better. As compared to stones cut around 40.5, which have more distinct arrows. Basically, with the slimmer arrows you get more pin fire mixed in with the broader flashes.

Please correct me if I''m wrong; I was just playing around on their site and learned that last night. I know HCA doesn''t necessarily agree with larger pavilion angles increasing light return, but like they say, the buyer has the last say and the buyer should purchase what is pleasing to his/her eye.

Any thoughts on whether to do this setting in 14kt white gold or Palladium?

Honestly, I think 14kt would be better...I''ve heard some not so good things about Palladium...but it''s up to you. It''ll be a beautiful ring no matter what you do!

Thanks for the feedback 04diamond. I was leaning towards 14kt white gold; I don''t like the fact that it has to be replated, but I guess it isn''t a bad thing since it will essentially look like new everytime it is replated.

Anybody have bad experiences with Palladium? Is it true that it scratches much easier than WG?

My proposal idea...let me know what you think!!!

I think the ring is stunning! And 1.09 is NOT small. I''m sure your future FF will be thrilled!
