I know these are nowhere near as "bling-y" as the lovely pieces usually shown here, but I need to share since I am thrilled to have found them!

I was in a local jewelry store and realized they had a small estate section. I remembered having seen the great "brooch/pin" conversion thread, so went over with that in mind. I fell in love with three unique brooches, and after spending today thinking about it, I went back to purchase them this afternoon. The jeweler is having a yearly sale and was willing to negotiate, so I got all 3 for under $1250. Hooray!

1. Probably the most detailed of the three. This one has detailed enamel work and is hand-chased. I guess the maker is Whiteside and Blank, who manufactured for Tiffany Co, Neiman Marcus, Oscar Heyman, and others. I just love the detail work, and the tiny diamond is lively and crisp. The first pic is from the vendor, and shows details a little better than my phone images.

2. I am OBSESSED with the center stone in this one. It looks like a tranny cut to me, but was listed as an OEC. No matter the cut, the broad flashes are awesome and I couldn't let it sit in the store without a bling-loving home. Total carat weight is .45, and I think the center is .3. The side stones are really small, but also bright.

3. Finally the lest detailed but "sweetest" one. The diamond is .08, but bright and fun, and the filigree was too awesome for me to resist.

Sorry for the long thread--but couldn't wait to share the new pretties with people who will appreciate them! DH just stared at me and said, "cool" before doing something else haha.

I'm planning to not add "bails", and wear them with a chain (if vertical), and 2 chains--1 looped around each end--for horizontal. Since all the connections "lock" this seems secure and that way I won't have to risk heating or anything that might hurt them :)

They’re all adorable! The workmanship on the first, especially, is delightful - they’ll make fabulous pendants!! :cool2:

Your DH’s “cool” beats mine’s “how much did you spend this time?” :mrgreen2:

You did good! The diamonds in those are beautiful.

You are so right- the middle diamond in the second one is amazing.

Can’t wait to see pics of you wearing them!

Nice finds! The detail on the first one is stunning!

LOVE this one we saw last month. Dragonfly beauty.

And a couple of my own. I have lots of brooches/pins and one day I will get them out of the safe and share photos. In the meantime here are pics of 2 I have in my camera phone already.

My birthstone peridot. Given to me by a dear family friend who was an antique jewelry dealer right before he died. It is very meaningful to me.

Wow those are spectacular :appl:. Each one has so much character, sort of like they all have stories to tell.

I have two antique brooches! I wish I wore them, but neither have been ever been worn. I am afraid of damaging clothing and afraid of losing the brooches if I pin them on a jacket. Such a bummer!

Hair pieces?? Not any safer than pinning on a jacket, but one tends to look more/after hair than lapels... :)

OMG you're killing me @lovedogs! First @Ellen and @marcy killing me with all their delicious dishes and now you with the bling. O M G!!!!!:love::love:
Course this isn't a bad way to go.:P2:kiss2:

We are sad to report that @missy passed away this morning. Cause of death appears to be "bling overload". More at 11.:lol:

The second one would make an amazing cuff bracelet!

Completely agree :kiss2: @kama_s I would've totally offered to take this off of your hands if I hadn't just found and converted mine!! I was looking for a while!!

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are LOVELY, who would not buy those??? I sure would've! Please report back with the approach of looping one chain per end of the pins, okay? I don't visualize things that well and I would love to know if that worked, as I have a couple pins I'd like to try it on!

Seriously, your pins are really beautiful and look at those white and bright stones, definitely could not lose with those!!!!

Your brooches are lovely. I particularly like the first one but all are beautiful. I had a conversion done with an ebay find. I think re-purposing these antique pins is great fun.
