Ethiopian Opal Pendant

This is a present for my friend who is expecting her first child. She's been wanting an opal for a while and the child is due near the end of October... PERFECT!

.96ct Ethiopian Opal in 18kt WG pendant .31cttw of diamonds. I got it on my trip into the diamond district yesterday from Klim Jewelry (66 W 47th). They have a HUGE selection and it was a difficult to choose between all their gorgeous stuff. They set the stone for me right then! It's always a harrowing experience setting an opal, but the stone is perfectly set.







Opal's color play is beautiful (There's not a lot of sun today so these are before it was set (obviously))

What would be a good chain length?

She's tall (5' 10") and fit. She's busty and well can only get bustier with the pregnancy I suppose. Would you get something short and add on if necessary or longer and shorten if necessary?
