Hi there!

So we finally chose a location. It''s an amazing hotel ballroom that gives us a great deal for out of town guests as well as a free case of champagne. The thing is, we are considering having the ceremony and reception in the exact same location. The wedding coordinator suggesting doing it "European style" where the guests are already seating in their tables for the reception during the ceremony.

The other option is to have the ceremony in a different room for an extra charge and have everyone move to the reception ballroom.

How do you feel about this? Any thoughts/comments? I''ve never been to a wedding done in this fashion.

I think every wedding is different... it just depends if you can afford it or not. I would have a problem doing this, but if money was an issue, I would highly consider it!

Mine is all in the same backyard and that seems just great to me...why make people haul over to another location just for the sake of moving?

I don''t know if it''s *actually* "European" or whatever, but it sounds like a nice idea. Make sure everyone can see you though. That''s the only problem I see.

fabcrab,

I have seen this style of ceremony done a couple of times and it seems to work best with a smaller wedding and as long as no ones view will be obstructed. There is nothing wrong with doing the ceremony like this although it seems to lend itself to a more casual/nontraditional wedding. If it works for you, go for it.

I went to a wedding once where this would have worked better than having all the guests get up, and squish to one side of the room so that the chairs could be moved and the tables set up. Do what is ever best for you, your reception site, and the flow of the wedding.

I think it''s an interesting idea. If you like it and it works for you, go for it!

I can''t think that it''s actually "European" style though. At least not English, French, or Italian.
